"L'Etude du Tarot" by Oswald Wirth

Here is one of those books that simply shows up one day unlooked for,
and turns out to be a delightful offering of thoughtfulness and wisdom.
It would be my pleasure to answer any questions, and I also hope that
we might develop a discussion too, on one of Tarot's greatest authors.

Tarot Des Imagiers Du Moyen Age (1927)

L'Etude du Tarot (1931)

We might also discuss the unfortunate translation
of the title: Tarot Des Imagiers Du Moyen Age. :(

It ought to be something more accurate, like:
The Tarot of the Medieval Picture Makers

*

Edited to add: L'Etude du Tarot was "translated" as:

Introduction to the Study of the Tarot
A beginner's guide to the symbolism and use of Tarot cards
by one of the greatest Tarot designers and Theorists

After saying "Hello!" to the OWL (wait or click on) scroll down to:

Symbolisme
D'après Oswald Wirth

then click on:
Le Symbolisme des vingt-deux clefs de la sapience secrète du Moyen Age

keep clicking on each picture until you get a full page image...
I recommend saving them to your pictures & making a folder :)

Rosanne

Thank you both MoonGold and Fulgour. You cannot get an Oswald Wirth for love or money it seems- not the 22 Majors deck at any rate. Thanks for the scans which I have foldered now.... and are you going to translate the book for us Fulgour? Oh and Happy New Year ~Rosanne

Elven

This is one of my favourite decks - which I like to use the Majors from! I only have the LWB though! I have had to use other books which use his cards to gather a bit more info :)

Beautiful deck!! Though alot of the 'gold' on the cards has 'scratched/worn' and there looking slightly 'red' underneath!! Poor cards!! ;)

Many Blessings
