The Writhing Dark: Eldritch Tarot

Did this deck ever get made?

Yes and no. ALLEGEDLY the creator had a breakdown of some kind; he did post that he had all the tarot decks made (there are a lot of other things in the same campaign) but he was waiting for boxes; anyone prepared to have one with no box (I was one who said yes) would get them right away... Nope.

And so on. In theory we shall still get them. I await being pleasantly surprised.

Jeez, that was a long time, right?! I'm on this dark deck bend at the moment.

Wow, $116K and no rewards? Brutal.

Yeah, it's totally weird because it looks like the initial request was for 18k and 116k came in for the playing cards and tarot deck. Looks like there was even sponsorship for some of the project.

I think these crowdfunding projects need hard deadlines or the money gets returned.

I hope someone more directly involved is following up on this situation. Please let us know about any updates. I'm very curious if you can take 116k for a crowdfunding project and not deliver it without consequence.

The comments have been pretty active since the launch, and the theme has been a gradual move from "this is understandable and unfortunate and we wish you all the best as you fulfill this to "you stole our money." As far as real updates there has only been:

I generally assume Kickstarter projects will be delivered late but it's really, really frustrating when they seem to have been outright abandoned like this one (and a few others). At some point all the money raised is gone and you are left with the designer promising to get you your deck with their own funds (guess how often that pans out).

I'm directly involved - I am a backer - and there IS nothing to report except the increasingly angry posts about it. Several of us have reported the project to try to get our money back - nothing happens.

Wow! Some people have no shame with the "poor me" routine. I can't believe dude was carrying on like that when he raised 116k for a tarot deck and never delivered it. WoW, just WoW! It doesn't totally shock me though. I worked at this company one time and a similar d-bag got promoted to top dog. He rarely came to work for month and months and months, BUT he sent "poor me" email blasts to everyone at the company!!! His grandpa died, his special needs kid needs treatment in another state, his brother in laws cousin was murdered on and on and on...

My advice, file a class action suit against this person for your money plus four years of interest at 30% for emotional duress. :)

TOTAL SCANDAL! Shame on Kickstarter for having ZERO recourse in this instance. So dumb, but what do they care they get their percentage fee, right? I have NEVER backed a crowdfunding project and I NEVER will! Sorry folks, but all it takes is one bad apple to spoil the bunch. I will take my chances that extra copies will be available after the campaign is over and decks are delivered as promised or that I will happen upon it down the road through a trade/sale or Amazon when the deck gets mass produced by a legit publishing company!
