He could be a coward. I mean yellow has that rep as well. I'm not to saying the individual isn't intelligent or is lacking in the resources to communicate effectively, but somehow chooses not to assert himself in that way. Easier to manipulate, play mind games, the coward's way, instead of being direct and upfront.

I went out with a man about 3 years ago that was the seven of swords incarnate... His favorite color happened to be yellow... lol

In the beginning of our relationship, I kept getting this card for him. I didn't see the qualities of this card in his behavior, until later in the relationship. This man would play a diplomat in order to get his way, a master manipulator. I call this the "lone wolf" card. Everything he did was done so that he could get his way, while underhandedly manipulating you into thinking that he was a great guy. This person never confronted issues directly, and if I brought up something he didn't want to discuss, he would run away or do whatever he could to avoid the situation.

A coward? Most definetely. Yellow like a chicken. He was very smart, but used his smarts to avoid direct confrontation, instead he would have his own agenda and sneak behind the scenes to get his agenda met. You wouldn't know it until it was too late ( you noticed the swords were gone). I also heard he stole money from his family's restaurant, and he frequently lied.

Just a story to let you in on my personal experience with a 7 of swords personality. I don't ever read this as being good, and don't know of any context to read it positively in, unless you are the person in the card getting away with it...

Hi Cupid's Heart,
I'm glad you brought this thread to life - it makes interesting reading. I get 7 swords coming up a lot about work over the last couple of years - and that's 3 different work places... (pattern? ok, ok, I'm working on it)

For me it says things are happening behind the scenes - you might feel that things are stable and not moving but discussions have been held behind closed doors and the decisions have been made.

It fits a bit with a story I have about yellow, it was the start of my interest in colour psychology. When I was first working in a hospital (a lifetime ago it feels), there was a lot of new building happening and a new off ground walkway between two buildings was part of it. The corridor was painted bright yellow and had yellow flooring too - you might think it was about cheerfulness and happy working environments, but it was commonly known that the reason this colour was chosen because people didn't want to hang around it so they kept moving - it was so supposed to stop socialising and gossiping in the corridor. The whole feeling behind it is of being manipulated by those in power - but also - no talking openly, no hanging round being amiable and social - any conversations have a specific purpose and it's not friendship.

This card often gives me a feeling of drought (not any tree, hardly some grass) and makes me think of a desert at the dawn when the air is full of dust and colours the sky yellow.

It shows an obvious lack of possibilities, and hard conditions. The character must be sneaky to survive even if he has to steal and manipulate to achieve his objectives.

Thus, this man may be a thief but not only by nature. The environment and the situation may force him to act like this, also because it may be the easiest way.

However, he looks careful and confident with his satisfied smiling. I think, over the years he has learnt many tricks, being good at taking adavantage. In some ways he is a symbol of adaptation because he knows how to use his brains.

there is a problem though. This man seems to over-use his intelligence to meet his targets only, bad or good, and leaves no place to his feelings.
Maybe he doesn't need so many swords but steal them all only for the thrill.

That would explain why the color of yellow (intelligence) is so important in the card and why there is no water at all (emotion).

Yellow

Yellow in psychology is associated with mind and intellect.

A dingy yellow color is often associated with caution. Just look at the yellow color used often on signs that exhibit warnings while driving on the road.

Yellow is the color of the Solar Plexus chakra and it is associated with autonomy, will and personal power. It is also associated with the ego and known to be the 'control center'.

In the 7 of swords I would interpret the Yellow color which surrounds the entire main activity in the card to be caution surrounding the act of the main figure, he is on 'weary' grounds.

IE: The Yellow in the 7 of swords is a 'dingy' yellow. for example, we see a difference from the yellow in the 4 of wands which is brighter. We also can take the entire card into context to better interpret the yellow if choosing to assess the meaning through color analysis.

As an act

I have often pulled this card for a person who was found to have manipulated a student into filing a false allegation on an accusatory instrument. The woman used the same instrument to exile a student off a campus ground to then several days later use the case to get acclaim from the defense and advocacy of the student she exiled along with using the case to give her a cause to thrust herself in the media about off campus conduct. If the student never filed the allegation, she would not have cause for increase of status and acclaim.

Activity that is aimed to stay under the radar, undetected. But somehow during or after the act, the activity does get detected.

Ego and Intellect along with pure self interest. Here is where we assess the Yellow through the symbolism of ego, mind and personal interest.

Yellow: intellect, energy, brilliance/radiance, cowardice, optimism, communication.

In the 7 of Swords, the figure is a metaphor for the slight of hand that comes with diplomacy and measuring one's words and actions carefully. This fits in with the communication and intellect associated with swords and yellow.

In the 7 of Swords, the figure is acting alone, smiling, outside of social convention which creates danger as indicated by the physically dangerous way he has the sword edges almost cutting into himself. Fits in with yellow energy and optimism.

Could be as simple as someone acting like a thief or being a back stabbing gossip (although page of swords is more gossipy to me). Yellow like a coward.

Has anyone given the Book T description? Anyhow, here it is...

Partial success. Yielding when victory is within grasp, as if the last reserves of strength were used up. Inclination to lose when on the point of gaining, through not continuing the effort. Love of abundance, fascinated by display, given to compliments, affronts and insolences, and to spy upon others. Inclined to betray confidences, not always intentionally. Rather vacillatory and unreliable.

As Kwaw mentioned, it is the last decan of Aquarius, which is described in Book T as Moon in Aquarius. The title is The Lord of Unstable Effort.
