Goddess Tarot:8 Justice ~ Athena

autumnsdaughter

Athena was born whole out of her father's head after he swallowed her mother, Metis (wisdom). She wears her armor, and carries a distaff, and spins yarn on her spindle- she is the goddess of weaving. Snakes entwine her arms, signifying female power. Athena enjoys the workings of politics, the justice system... the owl on her shoulder acts as a familiar, showing her ability to see all points of view, and act accordingly. In the distance, we can see the great Greek buildings, beautiful white structures which emphasize simplicity and balance in design.
In this card, I get a sense of orderliness. Things go according to plans. Plan for the future and avoid complications. Use your brain, not your heart to make decisions. As a person, I can see this being a reasonable, almost irritatingly indecisive person (much like myself, being a Libra). Yet, you know that the eventual decision will be as fair as possible, and without fault.
