Reading to converse with the Dead?

Owlface

Magenta, I think you are absolutely right : this can be a great source of comfort to the ones left behind (and a source of joy to the departed, why not ?).

I don't understand the churches' deep fear of it, either. Of course it could become obsessional, like so many other things in our lives. Cleaning the house from top-to-bottom every day is obsessional. Any obsession is unhealthy. Should I avoid drinking a glass of red wine with my meal because some people are alcoholics causing terrible damage to themselves and to other people ? I feel this is unfortunately yet another example of churches mistrusting people's ability to judge for themselves, i.e. it's another attempt to wield power.

I'm so glad you were able to make contact with your grandfather and to hear that he is happy.

Thank you rosyelf...
and I agree with you that the veto has always been and is about power and control...if we become all empowered in our spirituality, with no "middle man", they have lost a job and their power...the catholic church used to accuse people that had psychic skills of being "possessed by the Devil" and many were killed because of it...no wonder many people are still scared of all that has to do with psychic contact or actvities, even the Tarot.

yes, it was wonderful to connect with my grandfather, we were always very close...and we still are :)

Blessings to you

I have used the Tarot to converse or communicate with my grandmother whom I loved very much. The reading was beautiful, very uplifting, full of love and encouragement. :)

I've just edited my previous post-I had meant to say that cleaning the house top-to-bottom EVERY DAY was obsessional, but I forgot the "every day" bit. I certainly don't wish to imply that the odd spring-clean is proof of neurosis ;)

Very interesting

I would like to connect with a beloved departed one...very much. I wouldn't be afraid of the chant, but I found this site:
http://www.graveworm.com/semi/semi04.html
and it is contradictory, so I don't know... first it says:

"The first Semiphoras is that of Adam, because he spoke with the Creator in Paradise;

The second Semiphoras, because he spoke with angels and spirits;

The third, because he spoke with devils;

The fourth, because he spoke with the creatures of the four elements: the birds, the fishes, the animals, and the creeping things of the earth..."

Then it goes on,

"The first Semiphoras was acknowledged by Adam, since God created him and placed him in Paradise, where he was allowed to remain only seven hours. The name is love, which name must be pronounced only in the greatest need, and then only with the most devout feelings toward the Creator. In this case you will find grace and sure help.

The second Semiphoras, in which Adam spoke with angels, and which gave him the expression, yeseraye, that is, God without Beginning and without End, must be pronounced when speaking with angels, and then your questions will be answered and your wishes fulfilled.

The third Semiphoras, in which Adam spoke with the spirits of the departed, and inquired of them, who gave him satisfactory answers upon the word, Adonay Sabaoth, cadas adonay amara. These words must be uttered when you wish to collect winds, spirits, or demons: Aly, Adoy, Sabaoth, amara.

The fourth Semiphoras: Layamen, lava, firin, lavagellayn, tavaquiri, Lavagola, Lavatasorin, Layfialafin, Lyafaran. With this name he bound and unbound all animals and spirits."

First says the fist one is to speak with devils (a thing I wouldn't do) next gives you the chant saying it is to speak with the departed! Contradictory! I won't try it till I am more sure :/

One more thing: Which would be the best spread for this? I fancy the 5 or 7 cards spread.

I contacted Marilyn Monroe in a reading. I asked her how was JFK in the sack. I got the Hanged Man. Apparently, he couldn't "salute" and needed Viagra. No wonder she went with Bobby at the end. Makes me wonder why Jackie O was jealous with Monroe seeing her husband when he was such a non-functioning man. If i was Jackie I would have let Marilyn have him.

Or maybe I was communicating with a demon...

It's very rewording to be able to speak to the dead:).
