barnes and noble exclusive, not too bad

The deck artist is Jaqui Mair, first publisheed by Collins and Brown Limited. It is not the greatest deck, but for its simple but very focused symbolisim, and its rich colors the major arcania does in fact stand out, the Emporer looks exceptionally authoritive. I'm not too fond of the death card which shows body parts in the field that the skeleton is moving through, it doesn't look like the artist could exemplify the card too well. no matter.

the minors are Pip cards, and resemble playing card patterns. Which is interesting set against the deep colors of each suit. I imagine many interesting readings with this deck.

the back is reversable, dark blue, with a web of grey interconnected lines, looking like a honeycomb hybrid with a spiderweb and several grey stars.

For 10 dollars, I can't complain when most decks are $25 and more and sometimes even have less intuitivness then this deck.

I'm curious, what's the name of the deck you are describing? Is this the Tarot Basics set by Burger/Fiebig, or something different entirely?

Lillie

I'm curious too. It's not the one I normally associate with the name 'Bernes and Noble'.

Any chance you could give a link to pics of the cards?

I saw this tonight...cards seem a pocket version of Destiny Tarot

The original has this naive style:

The new book "Tarot Basics" is a translation from German of a different text.
This has black and white scans of the Rider Waite, Thoth and Marseilles, all cards, and a generic summary of how to read the cards. I'm not certain whether the book really describes the Destiny Tarot pictures--but from what I read in a review of the Destiny Tarot, it was originally designed to go with a set with Rider Waite Tarot meanings:

I agree with the first post--it's a ten dollar set that includes a decent book. If you like the deep colors and naive style of painted pictures, this is quite different. In one of the scans, the scattershot remains on the field for the Death card might remind you of the Oswald Wirth touch to the Death card...or be something you might not like.

The small cards seem a bit flimsy...I mean thin and smaller than the sturdy Destiny Tarot was, from my memory.

Hope that helps.

yup, thats the one. And yes, the death card is similar to the Oswald-Wirth, I didn't connect that until i started my Tarot Magic computer program.

The 'Destiny Tarot,' that is ironic, since i was in Cheyenne to get fitted for my friends wedding (I have to wear a tux), and the entire trip revolved around destiny and fate.
