I was supposed to use my Russian version of the Buckland Romani in order to teach myself the Russian titles, but even though I brought it to work with me everyday, I never had the time. I did do tarot things, however. I wrote up my hindsight perspectives on a significant reading from two years ago in my tarot log. I also kept feeling pangs of Golden Dawnness and picking up various explicitly GD and Thoth-based decks. This often happens to me. I will go a few weeks immersed in esoterica, then want something off the beaten path with nothing but pure intuition triggers, and then want to chuck it all and go with a Marseilles. This is the beauty of having a collection from which to choose, even if my selection that's not in storage is not very large. I should try the Russian-learning again. Yet, I feel the telltale pull of the Golden Dawn. Time will tell. |

As much as I like the Tarot of the Sephiroth, I just wasn't in the mood. I set them aside and pulled out my Kris Hadar TdM. That was EXACTLY the right move. For some reason, I really wasn't in the mood for Qabalah. And, I was also a bit disappointed that it didn't add anything to my studies. The Kris Hadar TdM is very peaceful. The colors are easy on the eyes an it gives me a chance to work with numbers for awhile. I guess I wanted to work with numbers and not Qabalah.

Something happened to my selection this week, too... the Prairie Tarot showed up. I haven't put the Tarot de Paris away, but I cannot seem to focus on it. I don't know how long this feeling will last, but for now, the Prairie Tarot is giving me readings I understand instantly, and I cannot resist it. This particular deck came from an Amazon marketplace seller, and i didn't expect it to arrive before the weekend. I actually didn't expect to ever purchase this deck, but the price was low enough to snare me, and as soon as I laid out the first spread, I realized I was done for, and I ordered a backup from the artist. I guess, growing up in Colorado and watching almost nothing but Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Maverick, Rawhide and Rifleman (my favorite!) in the 50's and 60's, shaped me in way that I never understood before I started reading these cards. For years, I've avoided western novels and movies, claiming I had enough of it growing up, but apparently not. Interesting. Maybe I should consider giving Lonesome Dove a shot after all.

I think this is the week of the "other" deck taking over. You know- the deck that wasn't on you list for deck of the week- but just kind of popped in to say hello- then took over?! ![]() This happened to me too. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the Mary-El. It needs a trim, but I do love the art. It is visually stunning and powerful. But- sometimes there is such a thing as too much... The shaman oracle was great too- good readings, but it didn't hit me hard. Then, well, I took out the tarot of the crone by accident, and figured I would shuffle and see what it was like. Sigh. It hit every deep place that I have, in a way that I haven't had in a really long time. I won't say ever- but this is one of the most powerful decks I have used. Powerful enough to topple out the Icelandic tarot- which was my favorite go to deck for a long time. It is in the special box with the runes on the altar (where the Icelandic used to live). Nuff said right there. So- it is the week of the "other" deck- which is great, and funny, and especially ironic for me since I didn't officially sign up this week anyway!

Despite all the deck-swapping, I hope everyone had a good week overall. I am setting up the thread(s) for Week 49 as Nic still seems to be very busy. Elendil.

Thanks Elendil I put away the Ibis yesterday already. It just wasn't for me. But I guess that is part of the reason we do this group, to weed out the collection. __________________ To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong. ![]() The Drogi and Mirrors of the Heart have been wonderful this week; the Drogi is a bit off the beaten path from RWS, so my readings with it reflected such. And the MOH seemed to work so well with it. __________________ "When I was a young man, I admired clever people. Now that I am older, I admire kind people." ~Rabbi Milton Steinberg |

VRR has definitely reminded me of its total awesomeness these last two weeks. Almost don't want to put it away tomorrow (or sunday, lol) but do want to keep moving through decks, so. __________________ currently reading with: Nusantara Tarot "The art of losing isn't hard to master..." |

Tarot of the III Millennium started out on a high and ended with a big old ehhhhhhh. I still like it (the majors are especially attractive), and I like the slightly weird system it uses (the web addresses made so much sense once I figured them out!), but the minors leave me cold. Maybe I just didn't spend enough time looking at them, but I find it hard to connect the minor cards to anything. But this coming week I'm going for a complete change and using the Bright Idea deck. |
