Tarot Box-making hobby

The crowned one

I have made one box, after seeing the other boxes here I may have to give it another go.

Here is mine.

I bought the deck here without a box. For the lining I cut up a sponge and covered it in red material to fit the deck snug. The latch is a sterling dragon the head is hinged and holds the lid down with pressure only. The outer covering is a satin material, the upper box liner is paper.

WOW :bugeyed: you made that box?

it's great!!!

I love the idea of the sponge as a cushion. supportive yet soft and springy.....and the dragon head latch is very cool

blue-fusion I've enjoyed looking at your creations. You've inspired me to post some pics of a box I made recently for a Visconti-Sforza deck.

Glue gun and a high tolerance to pain. (blisters on three of my fingers from minor burns ;)) I would get the glue smoking hot, take a large sip of ale, push a line of glue onto the box, place the material and smooth it flat before it hardened. Worked pretty well.

I feel mine pales compared to the others, but thanks for the kind words!

yeah the pain of unrequited love pales in comparison to what glue gun can do to your fingers. lol thanks for the advice, i'll try experimenting with it and using some fabrics i bought long ago for that purpose.

and, no, don't say that. you did a pretty good job with the box. very oriental (especially with the clasp thing). i wonder, and maybe you'd be interested in doing it too. how about doing a box, with the same fabric, but this time, one that has lids on both sides, so that they open up in the middle, and using frog closures (those chinese button-things on chinese shirts) on them. bet that'd really be gorgeous too. :)

I LOVE these boxes!!

Blue Fusion, thank you so much for providing us with instructions. I may attempt to make a box.

I think the faux marble box looks great!

Oh, these boxes are so beautiful! Of course, if I had anything like it my daughter would take out the cards and dump her crayons in it. Then, she would proceed to draw all over it! :)

All of these Tarot boxes are so beautiful. I wish I had all the talent that you all have in making these.
I do make tatot bags with material and have just started making some boxes with crochet thread. I found the pattern online at LLewelyn and fell in love with it.
