The paladin sensed goodness and open his cyan eyes. "Well, Hello good dwarf, please join me, and excuse my state, it has been...a...unsusual day he says as he casually wipes bits of tendon and tissue off his sleeve, but a successful one, our world is a better place today."

He passes over a large jug of golden nectar.

The Fantod had been on the table! It wasn't what she was looking for, but suddenly the air around her grew still. Before she knew it she was confronting the bar tender, "Mai Tai. Now."

"Em...ahem..er..." Filida exercises her communication skills for the first time aboard the train. Making sure her mouth was completely free of excess moisture, she cleared her throat and then said, "Yer quite mucked up, Sir Paladin. Might you need a few healin' words muttered over ya?"

She accepted the jug from his hand, and set it down on the small table. Business before pleasure....

Of course, she was curious about what he'd said. First off, it seemed like whatever sort of creature it was that he was sporting all over himself, it had put up a good fight. And second, it had been far too long since she'd been in a proper fight! (She let out an involuntary, wistful sigh...)

My fine dwarf, you may not know this about Paladin's, but I can cast "lay on hands" once a day, this IS me healed. It was one hell of a Battle, literally. Had I not a tellaportation scroll I just might have had to fight my way up the first 11 levels of hell. These are the thoughts of the Abyssal lord Eldanoth spread all over my sword. Needless to say we did not agree! It was a close argument tho

The fasted route to recovery for me now is kinship, ale and dance!

Ah, they are playing my song! Shall we dance?? or drink??

Filida looks the Paladin over and thinks to herself (This is what he looks like after the laying on of hands??). She lets out a slow and soft whistle.

Then, she finds her voice again. "Course I know! Course I know! But by Lord Carnagh's Great Round Belly, I swear you look as though ya mighta forgot how!"

She meant this good-naturedly (she didn't realize this could possibly sound like she was being critical of the battered Paladin), but she really was quite taken aback by his appearance.

Yet....he sounded fine...and didn't want assistance....didn't look like any bones were broken, and he had all his limbs, sooo.....

More than anything it dawned on her that he was a fighter after her own heart. Best way to forget the scars of war, was to dance and drink! Specially drink! And sometimes sing and carouse! But dance and drink first!

"HO! HO! 'Pears like we think on the same things! But why one or ta 'other? I says, dance AND drink! HO! And oh, what a clever tune was struck! Hoist yerself to yer feet, man, whilst I throttle some ales outta that there scrawny bar lad!"

("Ho, mebbe he'll favor me with the tellin' of his battle after the dancin'! Sounds like a fierce one!", she thought excitedly to herself).

She thunders off toward a young man who had already been threatened at weapon point earlier in the evening. He looked like he would probably be seeking other employment once this train got back home.

Soon enough she came back with two frothy mugs of ale....

LOLOLOL, the paladin thinks to himself, I am feeling better by the moment, this dwarf is a fine companion, and dwarfs are known for their discretion so the paladins guild will be none the wiser if I need a extra cup or two of medicinal ale! And she looks like she can cut a rug with the best of 'em.

The Paladin remembers his manners, "excuse me for a moment...I am going to lay my filth ridden amour aside with my pages help and soon will be back in both ability and heart to join you!"

he stands and salutes the worthwhile dwarf by guzzling back a litre of good ale and tossing the cup aside as he turns to his page.

"PAGE", he roars, "to me!" "there is dance and drink a foot"

"Mai Tai", wonder what that is?? Best find out after I clean up!

I quietly enter the bar car, after a solitary meal in the dining car; Kaelar perched upon one narrow shoulder. For the first time, my face is exposed to casual scrutiny and an observer would see an uncommonly young Gnome, with black, shoulder length hair, sharp features, and large grey eyes. The symbol of a flaming hammer adorning the left shoulder is readily apparent, as is the glowing metal staff in my right hand. A warhammer hangs at my waist.

I wince at the shouting of a Dwarf cleric and her Paladin companion and take a seat on the opposite end of the car. I signal the barkeep to bring over a glass of wine.

It did Filida's heart good to see someone that could knock back a pint as quickly as she could. It was like being back home!

("Whell now, don't he just drink like a Dwarf?! And he looks to be already on the heal, ta boot!") she mused approvingly, and waved him out the bar door.

When he was no longer in sight, she downed the ale in three hefty gulps. She buried her mouth in her upper left arm and allowed the hop-soused burp to escape, muffled by the fabric of her traveling robe.

She sat and looked around, tapping her fingers on her knees.

Should she get another while she waited? Or, should she just wait? Because...there was plenty....and he would probably be a while...no sense in being thirsty....and empty-handed...course maybe that would be bad manners......or not...if she had another one...real quick...well, who'd know? Manners wouldn't matter....

She looked around again, tramped back to the bar, and started to come back with two more ales.

There was someone else in the bar car! Why hadn't she noticed before?? She turned her back to the young gnome....downed the ales in rapid succession, and hid the mugs behind a potted plant.

Another discreet burp into her shoulder, and she re-entered the room.

The gnome didn't seem to want company right then, so Filida just offered a casual nod of acknowledgement...

5 = Post # 98: Deposited at bar itself under counter by flower arrangements

“Description: Fully-illustrated 78-card pirate-themed deck that works better than a lot of “novelty” tarots do. Charming rapscallions, seedy inns, buxom wenches -- the full gamut of adventurous characters are here, without sacrificing too much meaningful symbolism in the process - Tarot Garden”.

Feeling refreshed and just a bit happy the Paladin walks back towards the bar. Cleaned and dressed as a paladin should be when not in battle he feels good for the first time in a while.

He enters the car and requests a song...one for his new companion and him.

Barkeep, do not let our whistles dry and mind our P's & Q's! yells the Paladin over the band and his request as he signals the dwarf to the dance floor!

The gnome looks like a likely companion based on the size of that drink thinks the paladin with respect. Tough bugger no doubt.

Filida cracks her knuckles, rubs her hands gleefully together, and stomps her way out to the middle of the floor.

Once there, she adapts to the Paladin's style of dance, and heartily joins in. She is fairly light on her feet for a Dwarf. Not exceptionally so, but she is good about not trouncing on other's toes, at any rate.

In no time, she is at ease in her surroundings. Who could not be, when there is good company and rousing music!

"You look a finer fellow, now ya washed the scraps o' that Abyssal lord offa ya!" she laughed, and gave the Paladin a jovial wink.
