Tarot Library Organizer

TWM Publishing is in the planning stage for a Tarot Library Organizer.

This will be a database to manage your decks, spreads and book collections. It is also planned to have a client management area.

This is your opportunity here on AT to voice your wish list, so dream big and tell me what you want.

Heidi S.
Publisher, TWM Publishing

It's got to be Mac compatible, no Windows only please.

I have developed my own spreadsheets to track my decks, books and spreads.

For decks, I track:
Item, Author, Artist, Publisher, Pub Date, # Cards, Category, Size (WxH), how Strength and Justice are numbered, whether or not the Majors are numbered, whether the Pips are scenic or illustrated, the names of the Court Card ranks, what the Water suit is called, what the Earth suit is called, what the Air suit is called, what the Fire suit is called, the names of other suits (if any), how the Card Stock compares to a standard deck, any notes I might want to know about the deck and how many copies of the deck I have.

For books I only track:
Title, Author, Publisher and Pub Date.

For spreads, I have multiple worksheets: one sorted alphabetically, one sorted by type of spread, and one sorted by number of cards. I track spread name, source, # cards, whether it includes a significator.

Any software I would buy at minimum would have to have all the fields I've listed above.

Rodney

Well, a search feature that can be utilized to find obscure symbols on cards would be awesome. So if it came already loaded with a certain number of decks, with card details, that would be amazing. (Hey, you said dream big.) Take for instance, the Voyager. It would be awesome to know how many of the cards have certain gods or goddesses, bees, pipes, grains etc. That is detailed. So, lacking a pre-loaded feature, it would be nice to be able to have a search feature that allowed you to add some card details in some area of the deck index.

The search feature would really be a great place to put some attention, so, if you could build records for decks that contained different kinds of information like release dates, oop dates, mass market vs art versions, and so on. An entire demographic page for each deck, to include areas for the card by card discussions.

Same for the client lists. Everything from birthdays, astrological signs to names of kids, husbands etc. If it could automatically figure the astrological sign that would be cool. Also, an auto numerology feature would be great, like an auto life path generator or something like that.

It should have at least two separate categories: one for pattern (RWS, Marseilles, GD, etc.) and one for theme (Celtic, pagan, cats, fairies, etc.). Also should allow separate entries for author and artist or even multiple authors and artists. For books and decks, original publication date and pub. date of cards you actually have, like RWS 1909, 1971!

Cross-references between decks and books (sometimes they have different names).

Client management would be great. As mentioned, records of readings should be linked, along with client feedback. And all the regular client info.

Hmmm, I'm sure there's more! I'll have to think!

The ability to add spreads and cards.

The ability to save a copy of the reading to a clients file.

Like rwcarter, I currently use a spreadsheet to record info on my deck collection. Additional fields not previously mentioned that I find helpful are: ISBN #, printed location (country), language, book included (Y/N), book author, book # of pages, date acquired, cost, trade/sale (Y/N), rating (1-10, for example). You may want to have some extra fields that are user-definable.

All of the fields should be searchable and sortable.
