Learning the Tarot by Joan Bunning, and either The Complete Book or Tarot, or The Tarot Revealed by Eden Gray. |

Bunning is a good place to start. Also: Tarot History Symbolism and Divination by Robert Place http://www.amazon.com/Tarot-History-...6660400&sr=8-1 Secret Language of Tarot by Wald and Ruth Ann Amberstone http://www.amazon.com/Secret-Languag...6660505&sr=1-1 Mystical Origins of Tarot by Paul Huson http://www.amazon.com/Mystical-Origi...6660680&sr=1-1 |

I don't like Joan Bunning's book at all. It uses a keyword system but gives you absolutely no clue as to how she got those keywords (apart from the pictures on the cards). I think you're best learning HOW to read rather than learning how to parrot off some keywords that someone has given you. The book I usually recommend to beginners is 'The Complete Tarot Reader' by Teresa Michelsen: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Complete-Tar...6663078&sr=8-1 You won't find any lists of card meanings in here but you will learn how to find your own meanings; it's an excellent book. Edited to add: I like all the books recommended by northsea too - any of them would be good for a beginner. __________________ 'Be excellent to each other' - Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Also, you should not ignore The Pictorial Key to the Tarot by AE Waite. |

I believe K. Frank Jensen's "The Story of the Waite-Smith Tarot" (ATS, 2006) is a must. __________________ "When you got it, flaunt it!" |
