Nine of Swords

The very first time I saw this card, before reading a meaning for it, this is what came to mind...after reading about it, I still feel the same about the meaning of this card.

When I look into the Nine of Swords I see suffering. The Swords are not in her back, but hang above her head, a constant threat. This is someone who cannot shop their mind from racing from one thought to another, constant worry, anxiety, thoughts of regret, loss, feeling totally alone, feeling no one cares or understands, they cannot cope, morbid thoughts fill their mind, an inner anguish whose pain is so deeply rooted it will not go away. Fear builds apron fear, there is no escape. I see the bedspread as a ray of hope, this will pass if the problems are addressed, or if the person seeks the help they need. On the lighter side, it may mean someone is just worrying about an on going problem, or event that is coming up.

When the Nine of Swords comes up in a reading, I will never take it lightly, if depressed like this, most will keep it a secret. It is hard to understand or comprehend such pain if you have not experienced it yourself. I see the lighter side to the Nine of Swords, but I always keep an eye open for signs of the darker side.

Direct: Depression, crying, tough times, suffering, disappointment, isolation, anxiety.

Reversed: Joy returns, problems resolved, good news coming, healing over time, unselfishness.
