Anyone here use runes

Hi to all,
This is my first post in this forum. I was just wondering if any of you use the runes? I use the witches runes, with a blank rune as I've found it to be quite useful!
My experiences ahve been very wonderful and it's very helpful as it comes up, but not really offten.
So I have 14 runes and like the number 14 in my set. Also I'm blind so I was able to paint the symbols on rocks that helps me as I'm then able to feel them.
All the best,
Veronica

Hello Veronica!

I have a set of lovely ones that I made myself, though I don't know them as yet & have yet to use them.

I also have a set of Celtic Sticks by Caitlin Matthews, which may just be interesting to you because they are Ogham sticks, scored deeply with the runes of the Ogham alphabet. I think that you might be able to use these!

There is also a "direction" stick with the runes for the directions on each of 4 sides.

I should get into my set (I had originally made them for someone else but wound up keeping them), & see what kind of readings they yield.

Best of luck with yours, I might be interested in a reading sometime (I've seen your posts)!

Hi Veronica,
There are several 'rune masters' here on these boards. I think most of them, like myself, use the elder futhark instead of the Witches Runes. There is a study group for the elder futhark under the Divination forum. I have seen a couple of posts about the Witches Runes in that forum as well. Enjoy.

reading runes

Hi all,
Well thanks for the replies I've received so far. Anyway, I also give readings, so if anyone would like one PM me!
I'd be happy to practice on you (any of you on here) for I could use that.
All the best,
Veronica

I love both the witch runes and the elder futhark runes. I'm not as knowledgeable in rune lore as I'd like to be, and I've forgotten much of what I used to know.

Lexie has done some great rune readings for me, and I've been thinking about going back to the runes.

Good luck with your readings, Veronica!

And congratulations on your first post in this forum!

Part of my daily divination exercises includes runes. I'm giving myself plenty of time to work with them. I have never done a public reading.

I'm constantly referencing Taking up the Runes by Diana Paxson.

Yes I use runes
Elder or Ogham, depends which ones take my fancy at the time..

I have seen the witch runes but do not have them..

I agree the ogham are great to feel
Also there are many Elder futhark sets out there that are also engraved or carved..
I have a few sets of EF Runes.. One is made of Rose quartz, with Painted symbols..Another is hand made by me, made of wood and again painted symbols, and the other set again made by me are of clay with carved out symbols..
My very first set was the handmade wooden set and stilll seem to be a favourite..

My only set of Ogham are ones i made out of clay.. I really like them , I would really like to make a Ogham stick set

I need to find out my Druid Birth tree,, and then go on the hunt for naturally given up wood to make them... which could be an epic journey on its own..
But it doenst matter they will eventuate sometime or other..

Welcome to the Forum

Veronica

Here is a great little google book on celtic astrology and its relation witht he Ogham..

as far as this book is concerned the wood that resonates with me is Holly..
Hmmm!! I am in the tropics,, How on earth am i menat to get holly LOL!!
OH!! Well Maybe I may have to start looking around in my own enviroment.., and not worry about the birth tree LOL!!
It was an idea anyway..
Here is the link to the book it is really quite intersting if you are interested in the Ogham

Thankyou for the book link.

Ash is my 'kin' wood and was the first guide I met. The correlation between other things written in that book, which I have come to know only recently is quite amazing.
