Faerie Tarot-Four of Swords

Hemera

It is winter and it looks like it is probably late afternoon. Darkness will soon be falling. The faerie looks like Sleeping Beauty, waiting for her prince to come to her castle. Some vines are growing down the stone walls so maybe she has been sleeping for a long time already? The swords are pointing down towards her and they a bit threatening but they are also now at rest. The swords look like glowing candles or torches on the wall, with their red and golden handles. They are just waiting for the action to re-start so when the Princess wakes up she will have to face the swords again. Or maybe she has matured enough during her absence to be able to use the swords?
The Faerie Princess sleeps on a warm red and luxorious looking blanket. It keeps her alive and warm during the long winter. Her gown and wings are light green and golden and they are ready for spring. But there is still a lot of snow outside so it will be some time before spring is here.

This card is very similar to the RWS Four of Swords. The green of her wings and gown, symbolizing fertility and growth, belie any suggestion of death. This is only a temporary retreat, rest and/or recovery after difficulties. Outside the stone walls of her retreat it is winter, the season associated with this suit.

According to the LWB, the swords form a barrier that help to protect the sleeping faerie from the outside world. However, I do like the idea that they could represent something hanging over her that she may still have to face once her period of retreat is over.
