Fenestra Tarot - Six of Swords

Apellis

Three people - a man, woman and child, travel in a boat to a shore in the far distance of the card. The child's head is bows, the woman's eyes are covered, and the man, who appears to be rowing the boat, is wearing a large straw hat rather like a Thai fisherman's, and is facing away from the reader. the browns and muted greens suggest a sombre, dour aspect. The swords are pushed randomly into the boat - four behind the woman and child, two in front.

I always link this card with the phrase 'waiting to happen'. Everything in the card is 'waiting to happen'. The boat has not arrived, the people do not look up. The swords have apathetically been pushed into the boat; the people do not care how they are stored, or about each other (they do not look at each other, and despite obvious connections that might be drawn in other cases, they do not seem to be 'together' in any way). Perhaps they will arrive, but not at this very moment. There is nothing to do but wait until they arrive, and the people do not have the energy to talk, to entertain each other, or to raise each other's spirits.
