Mystic Dreamer Tarot: The Twos (group)

afrosaxon

2 of Pentacles: Woman in a white gown holds two pentacles. Pentacle in the left hand is larger and turned on its side, while pentacle in the right hand is smaller and upright. Both pentacles sparkle. Superimposed over the right pentacle is a snake unfurling. Two ships are a distance apart over a misty sea; one on left is smaller, but has brighter sails (directly in sunlight?) than boat on the right. The woman is facing the sea, and leaning to the right. A wash of blue is over the pentacles, snake, and full moon in the background. 17 birds in the sky.

2 of Cups: Man and woman are raising goblets to each other, about to entwine their arms together and drink. Woman holds her goblet by the bowl of the cup, while man holds his by the stem. Sparkles of light over goblets. The man wears only a loincloth of sorts; the woman is fully dressed in reddish top and long, flowing white skirt. A full moon is partially visible and shining brightly in background. A caduceus rises from near the woman, but in the center of the card. Sky is in sunset (?) and pine trees are in background, around a calm lake with a heavy mist over it.

2 of Swords: Woman in deep red dress sits on a bench. There are two columns on the bench and she sits between these. A raven sits atop each column and they seem to be staring down at the woman, almost as if they are telling her something. She places her hand against a large, heavy sword on her right (sword is larger than she is); behind her is an equally large sword, leaning in the opposite direction. Her left hand is on the column to her left, and her hands glow where she places them against the sword and column. She is blindfolded and a bouquet of three red roses is on her lap, facing the large sword beside her. The sea rolls in behind her. Wildflowers grow at her feet. A beam of light shines down from the full moon in the sky; this is a shadowy moon, no brightness other than the ray of light. 14 birds fly against the face of the moon.

2 of Wands: A man (?) stands in front of an arched column. In his right hand he holds a staff with a glowing orb at the tip. In his left hand he holds a glowing orb. He is looking at the orb in his left hand. A calm sea is beyond the archway. A second wand leans against the wall to his left, and even thought it doesn’t seem to have an org, it still glows at its tip. An open box is at the man’s feet and it contains…another, smaller box? A book? A raven is perched on the lower ledge underneath the archway and is leaning forward, as if trying to look into the box. Full moon glows in the sky, no birds in sky.

The 2 of Pents is the only card in this set where the woman is not facing the card, and is a departure from similar cards in other decks. Also, the 2 of Wands is the only one in this set where the figure is not a woman, and the only card without birds in the sky. The 2 of Cups is the only card that shows two figures—perhaps because the Cups suit is about emotion, and the other suits can therefore be more objectified?

I think the two of wands card doesn't match. The man's wand just doesn't match the card. It has a bright green end and I don't think it suits the cards' feel.

The images of the moon and the ravens become more obvious when all the cards are laid out in a spread.

I don't think the 2 of cups card quite catches the appearance of love. A mismatched pair of friends maybe but I don't see real love. The woman seems to be gazing through him and the man seems too agressive and rugged.
