Learning!!
I just recieved the Universal Tarot de Marseille and am wanting to learn this system of reading. It is the book set, but I would like to find more defined definitions of the pip cards. I am noticing that many sites talk about numerology. Is that a big part in reading them? Any Advice, sites and opinions are welcome!! Thank you all..... |

Go over the other Reading Exchange. At the top of the forum is Enrique Enriquez's Seekers thread, with links to all the threads. Read it and do the exercises! __________________ “Serenity is not freedom from the storm, but peace amid the storm.” The Gaia Shop Get Your Goddess On! (elf) |

Second EE's method, very helpful. Many people also like the Camoin method. If you like complexity - it may be a bit much to start with - Melanchollic's Astro method is good if you already know some astrology. Otherwise it may seem overwhelming. And finally, the Tirage a Croix is a beautiful, elegant method for the TdM majors that many people love. I often read the Tirage a la EE for people, and the sitters seem delighted esp. with a lovely deck like your Universal or the Gold Visconti majors. Best wishes to you.

Congrats crescent! I really like this deck, and Lee's book is one of the best I've read on the Marseille for the average person. I think the interpretation of the pips does rely pretty heavily on the suits and numbers. Lee mentions the book Le Tarot de Marseille by Paul Marteau wherein a method is described that incorporates the foliage and other decorations on the cards. I think it's only available in French though. You might be able to find some information on divination with playing cards and then apply that to the Marseille. |

Thank you Abrac... I thought this would be a good deck to start my learning of the Marseille. I thought about using info on divination with playing cards as a stepping stone. I have been learning about that as well, which is why I bought this deck. |

Hiya Crescent, Welcome to the TdM! I started out with the Hadar, and looking at various threads in this forum (Marseilles and Other Early Decks). I found a *lot* of good information in threads where Melanchollic was replying... I learned about the historically correct way to see the elements (from the time when tarot was invented). I can't remember which threads - though there is a great one in Tarot Spreads called Tirage en Croix, which I unfortunately cannot find at all! I'll do some more searching soon, and see what threads I can recommend. |
