When you discover your mission, you will feel its demand. It will fill you with enthusiasm and a burning desire to get to work on it.
W. Clement Stone

Here is the test to find whether your mission on earth is finished. If you're alive, it isn't.
Richard Bach

If you love something, you set it free. With homing pigeons, that is absolutely the seminal step you take. One day, you watch them take off and disappear. Almost all of the time they come back. For a child, that is a pretty magical thing. It makes you a better person.
Jim Jenner

February's full Moon is a lunar eclipse. Falling on February 9, it's influence is likely to be felt for several months to come. This is a very powerful eclipse in that Chiron, the Wounded Healer and the archetype of the stories we tell ourselves, is smack on the Sun on this lunar eclipse, which means that Chiron is exactly opposite the Moon. Neptune, just a few degrees on, is firmly in the mix, as well. The lunar and solar lights, representative of female and male energies, are tuning up for a healing and the messages we tell ourselves and others are the focal point of this eclipse, especiallyas the Sabian Symbol for the eclipse is Leo 22: A Carrier Pigeon Fulfilling its Mission.

The karmic condition of this eclipse is an interesting degree and maps the energy in the build-up as it's the degree that the Moon is on for a few hours immediately before exactitude. The Sabian Symbol is Leo 21: Intoxicated Chickens Dizzily Flap Their Wings Trying to Fly. This is a curious image and one that gives a warning not to let things get out of control, not to get into alcohol and drugs or get carried away at the expense of being able to move forward, get things done or finding a sense of inner (or outer) peace.

The 'Chickens' in this Symbol have let a foreign element into their lives; they've taken on too much, trying to do too much, especially attempting those things outside of their abilities, talents or possibilities. However, there is something in this degree that deserves recognition - they are endeavoring to go beyond their boundaries, to reach for something above or beyond them. There is, of course, nothing wrong with this, it's just that being 'intoxicated' can lessen one's real influence or abilities, however, reaching for what's just beyond one's grasp can be a great thing, leading to a realization that one is not so 'earth-bound' or limited. The trick is to find equilibrium in amongst the enthusiasm and drive to reach beyond. Intoxication can be great, especially when it comes from music or love or a feeling of transcendence. Sometimes we need this emotion; we long for a sense of escape or ecstasy. Other times it can lead us astray, somewhat like a chicken that's just lost it's head.

The Sabian Symbol for the Sun is Aquarius 22: A Rug Placed on a Floor For Children to Play On. We need to feel safe, secure and that we've got workable boundaries. Feeling fenced in or having no room to move won't cut it - but feeling like one has a 'rug' under their feet, that there's safety, stability and security will. Those who don't have this feeling in their lives could work at seeing that they do have a 'rug' under their feet by imagining this sense of security working for them rather than against them. This is also the degree of Chiron. Chiron is not only about the wound and the healing, but it's also the stories we tell ourselves and others. How to re-frame the stories? Listening to how insecure, unmoored or unhinged your stories may be can help reset the storyline.

The karmic condition of the Sun is Aquarius 21: A Woman Disappointed and Disillusioned, Courageously Facing a Seemingly Empty Life. This can be a sad Symbol, which I think needs to be rephrased, but it does hold some promise; the 'woman' is assessing her future and trying to make sense out of her direction and purpose in life. This degree has been highlighted for months and months over the last year or so with Neptune and Chiron passing over it several times. What are the stories? What is the reality? What are your solutions? Possibilities? Desires? How do you see your future? How could you see it? Do you see love there? Stability? The joy of being alive?

Neptune, the planet of dreams, illusions, and fantasies is on Aquarius 24: A Man Turning His Back on His Passions Teaches Deep Wisdom From His Experience. This Symbol speaks of turning one's back on something that may have been important but has now outlived it's time in your life, or, you've found it necessary to move on towards something different. Turning your back can mean moving towards what you want, especially as Neptune is involved.

With this eclipse on Leo 22: A Carrier Pigeon Fulfilling its Mission, the trick seems to be to both welcome the message and to be the message. What messages are you delivering? What's your mission? Do you send messages out that bounce right back like undelivered mail, insufficient postage, wrong address? This is particularly heightened as Aquarius 20 has the Symbol of A Large White Dove Bearing a Message (these birds with messages are opposite each other). Further, there's a cross as Taurus 22 is A White Dove Flying Straight and Fearlessly Over Troubled Waters and Scorpio 22 is Hunters Shooting Wild Ducks here we have the fixed cross with birds, all with some kind of message, at each arm of it. This is pretty wild considering the fact that the spiritualist medium Elsie Wheeler gave birth to these Symbols one by one but completely randomly (meaning she did not know what sign or degree the Symbols were being assigned to).

The big astrological signature in this eclipse chart is the opposition of Saturn and Uranus. We are being asked to let go of what's not working in our lives and to see where the new and innovative can take us. Letting go of the old hurts, pain and fear, we can embrace more of the new and exciting and authentic into our lives. The trick is not to throw the baby out with the bathwater! We need to be discriminating about what to keep and what to discard and with Jupiter (the planet of abundance, expansion and optimism) coming up to conjoin the Moon's north node (a karmic point of destiny), we are set to make some big changes, although some are coming to us through disillusionment as Jupiter and the node meet up on Aquarius 10: A Man Who Had For a Time Become the Embodiment of an Ideal is Made to Realize That as a Person He is Not That Ideal. This is about rewriting the script, seeing through the illusions and adjusting expectations - and being more authentic.
What's the message? What's your mission?

BTW, in my last newsletter, I wrote about the solar eclipse in Aquarius on January 26 on Aquarius 7: A Child Born Out of an Eggshell. One of the issues of this degree is invitro fertilization. On that day, January 26, a woman in the United States gave birth to octuplets!! (8 babies at once). She now has 14 children under the age of 7!! That is one heck of an example of that degree Symbol.
