Hajo Banzhaf

Hajo Banzhaf, author of various German Tarot books in the past 20-30 years, died in the afternoon of 11th of February 2009 in the age of 59 in Munich. His death was quick and unexpected, following the death of his wife Brigitte Theler-Banzhaf not long ago in December 2007.

Hajo had been the dominant Tarot book author in Germany, in German book shops usually half of the productions to the theme were written either by him or by a cooperation of him with others. Some of these books were translated to other languages and especially remarkable was Hajo's engagement in translations to East European countries.

Hajo owned the successful website http://tarot.de (Google-rank for "Tarot" in German language Nr. 1), visited daily by about 20.000 users and offering a large Tarot Forum.

The German Tarot-Verband e.v ... see http://www.tarotverband.de/ ... was founded 2003 with the participance of Hajo. He was active in the representation of divination with cards in TV, also he showed Tarot at many public readings in various cities in and outside of Germany.

Unluckily the announced German Tarot History Forum (English language) did run only some time and was finished then cause of missing participation.

I'm sorry to hear this. I was glancing through his lovely Keywords for Astrology yesterday afternoon.

I'm really shocked to hear this. I knew personally (though not well), and only last week re-subscribed to his newsletter to be alerted about new classes etc.

Hopefully I will be able to attend his funeral

A recent interview from him...

http://www.tarot.de/content/etc.php?id=850011

He sounded gentle and grateful for living as he had.

I'm very sorry to hear about his death. Long ago I remember sending an e-mail query about one of his books being translated in English. He was kind enough to reply! I believe he was in the midst of publishing one of his Crowley Tarot study books then.

I'm so sorry to hear that he's gone.

Thank you for letting us know.

Cerulean

I have his book on the Crowley Thoth, and it's my standard textbook on that deck, after the Book of Thoth (and rather more navigable!). His understanding of symbols in tarot and in general was superior.

I'm sorry to hear of his passing - in the prime of life, too! Thanks for letting us know.
