Sequence of the Trump cards

Does anyone else have the sneakiy suspicion that in a very short time, the earliest trump cards were wholly christianised?

How do we not know that they were a collection of images with some christian elements that were a part of the common social scene at that time & place?

So much thought, time, and effort has been spent in assembling them into a consecutive sequence. Perhaps the only 'sequence' was the earliest gambling one....... and they weren't numbered.
