Dear Ash:

I ordered another copy of the Diary for a birthday present for my youngest son. His birthday is not until June and he will be 32. When I brought the deck home, he asked if he could have it then, and not wait to his birthday. He didn’t even know what deck it was. I let him have the deck early. This is what he asked me to share with you.

“They are very self descriptive in a lot ways that my other decks are not. I appreciate how they can interpret the conflicts within my soul. Since I am a Gemini I have many self conflicts due to past decisions and future ones. I am trying to make my time left a better one for my self and family. This deck gives me a better look of hope and understanding of things to come. This truly is a very special deck. So in short I greatly thank you for this remarkable deck. The Key for me is a reminder that I am not the only one who has a troubled soul.
Thank you Peter.”

He feels it is a key to his soul and he uses the deck in some form every day. Sometimes he just sits and looks at the different cards. He has also taken the deck and sits by the pond on my property. He has used it to help him calm down, and understand what is happening to him and the situations around him.

I am trying to get him to write down his thoughts and feelings, or record them. He now wants to get a real computer. He has not wanted one again until he got the Diary. He goes on line with his playstation and it is hard to type on the controllers. He is spending less time on his games and more time with his cards.

Thank you so much. The Diary has touched him in so many different ways.

When you mentioned this was a gift for your son's birthday, several things came to me at once.

First was the idea to sign the deck in gold, which I have only done for 3 other decks. Perter's would be the 4th, and The Emperor (IV) came to mind. That is my Soul Card.. and I felt an instant connection to that.

A few days before I sent out the deck, I bought 3 pendents. 2 keys and 1 sword. One of the keys was for a girlfriend of mine who is struggling with some pretty intense crisis at home.. I was hoping the 2 of Diamonds would help as in the choices she makes now that would lead to her future. She is the angel with the dirty face who posed for my 6 of Hearts card and she was very happy with the key I gave her.

The other key was supposed to go into my collection; yes.. I collect keys but not just any keys. I love the ones with designs on them that remind me of skeleton keys; and I like pretending they are the keys to my own Dead Man's Chest. The place where I lock my dying heart so noone can find it and break it.

The day I sent out the deck to you, I had the image of Lytta in his well-dignified self appear as the 2 of Diamonds in my head. I was wrapping up the deck and he popped up out of nowhere in my head, waving the eye and the key... the usual cheeky smirk on his face.

I asked if he wanted to give Peter the key and he grinned back. Its no wonder he appeared in my head; Peter is a Germini The Lord of the Air, The Beetle King himself has stepped forward to herald the arrival of a new guest into Jahanam..

I do not know what Peter is going through... but through your PM, I sense it is a trying time for him and hope that he will find his way out of it.

He may become an honorable member of the Scar Clan upon his return but I have come to realise that battle scars we carry although invisible to the naked eye, are hard fought and we have earned every single one of them. It means we have gone into the abandoned regions of our soul, battled the beast within and we have come out with our inner light rekindled.

I am so glad Peter has connected with the deck and that he sees the hope I have tried to convey... through the darkness of the darkest night, we may find we have the innate ability to rise above.

Just reviving this wonderful thread as my Diary arrived on my return from my holiday & it is so beautiful I cannot find adequate words to describe my reaction to it! There is just so much in every card. Each time I look at a card I see things I didn't see the last time I looked & I'm completely drawn in to the world depicted... I must confess that within 24 hours of receiving my deck I trimmed it... I was terrified of catching one of the corners between the holes & damaging a card & so I set to work for the most nerve-wracking trimming experience of my life!!! it was truly terrifying on the darker cards with not much of a discernable line to follow, my heart was banging out of my chest in case I cocked it up! However, thankfully slowly, slowly paid off & It looks fab - I am going to definitely be doing some indepth work with it, there is so much to discover & work with. Thank you Ash

That's a good description! I've just picked her up & again am seeing so many new things, my eye is constantly being drawn to things & I think "hang on, I'm sure that wasn't there last time!" - The Queen Of Clubs is following me this morning, every time I shuffle she is either the first card I draw or lurking on the bottom of the pack... I'm reading thru the online LWB at the moment & enjoying it a lot - I need to find just the right bag for her now, I'm thinking a sumptuous red velvet or figured silk... This deck really is a treasure

very interesting that you trimmed it. I have also recently received my copy and was a little nervous about ripping cards. But I have decided that I love the house of cards thing so I'm just going to be extra careful with it. Thanks for the inspiring photos, Ash!
