Okay, so here's my proposed plan for the Glastonbury Convention of 2004... (Feel free to tell me to go away if you think the proposed plan is rubbish!) July 23rd, meet in Glastonbury town centre outside the Backpacker's Hotel (You can't miss it) around midday, if that's possible? I'll probably be getting to Glastonbury July 22nd, and staying overnight so I can be there for the 23rd. Plus, I get to look around the Tarot deck shops before everybody else, and sneakily grab the rare and cheap decks... Well, maybe not do that, but I'll definitely be there for the 22nd!July 23rd after meeting, those who haven't yet done so, check into Backpacker's Hotel. After this, the first real life Aeclectic meeting.... On Glastonbury Tor! A nice, slow, walk up to the top of the Tor, where we all grab a patch of grass to park our natural cushions bequethed upon us by the Gods, and chat, socialise, get to know each other's real life personas, etc, and just while away a couple of hours by relaxing together... Feel free to bring picnics, etc, and we can have a nice late lunch up there to! And cameras! Bring cameras and about one million films!! And some Tarot decks... We can give each othe readings IRL. Wow, just think, a face-to-face reading with our very own Swami... ![]() After the relaxation period, possibly a continuation of the Aeclectic convention theme with some talks in a booked-out venue (Which I will look into: There are plenty around in Glastonbury!) I'm sure we can get some people who are going to give talks... Hands up who's gonna volunteer? And after the talks, a party? Fancy dress party? Or a pub? Anyhow, it'll be a let-you-hair down thingie in the evening. And after the let-you-hair-down thingie, 'tis off to bed I guess... Unless people wish to stay up! I'll probably be taking another walk up the Tor with my boyf... Especially if it's a clear night cuz that'll be one amazing view. People are free to join us if they wish, as long as we have enough torches to make sure nobody falls in the dark. Morning of the 24th.... SHOPS???!!! After all that waiting and straining at the leashes, we Tarotholics can finally be let loose on Glastonbury town centre... Tell you what, the shopkeepers won't know what hit them! All their decks will sell in a few hours, and there'll be Tarotholics fighting each other over decks! What wonderfully delightful mayhem! The shopkeepers were talking about my Tarot spending spree to each other all day when I went there, so goodness knows what they will think about all us! 24th, Lunch.. Dunno where people want to have lunch... We could have it in the Backpacker's Hotel (They have self-catering facilities there where we can make stuff ourselves) or we can take another picnic somewhere... Maybe Glastonbury Abbey? It's a huge place, with loads of green lawns and old ruins... Great place for a picnic. After lunch, Chalice Well.... Another wonderful place, with gorgeous gardens, and healing essence... Reputed to be the place the Holy Grail is buried, one can stop and just reflect, meditate, appreciate the gardens, and just look around... Looking at all the offerinsg in the trees around the spring itself is amazing... Needless to say, this place is a pilgrimage site and sacred site for both Pagans and Christians alike. And when we get to the Healing Pool, it's tie to take off the shoes and socks, and I don't care HOW white your legs are (They can't be any whiter than mine, and I have photographic evidence to proove this!) you are going in that healing pool and experiencing it! It's bloody freezing, but you're only supposed to paddle in it. Makes for a good photo too... Just imagine it, the whole of the attendance of the Aeclectic convention squeezed into the Healing Pool, freezing their toes off and basically having fun. I dunno how long people will wanna stay in the Chalice Well, but judging by my previous visits, anything between 1 and 4 hours is the average! So, if people do wanna leave the Chalice Well before others, they're free to go wandering around town or doing whatever, but we should all arrange to meet outside the Backpacker's Hotel again at... 6pm? Then it's dinner, again, don't know what people wanna do for that, but dinner definitely! And after dinner, more socialising? More talks? Any suggestions? 25th... Well, there's the Museum of Pagan Heritage, there's shops again, there's the possibility of more talks/Tarot events/workshops... How's about an afternoon of Tarot games? Anyone for Tart charades? What Card Am I? Hmmm.... Any suggestions for the 25th? I guess it all depends on when people wanna go home... So, that's my proposal... Any suggestions? I will post some photos of me and my friends in Glastonbury that were taken at the Spring Equinox this year, when I get to a scanner! Then you can see the places I'm talking about, and you can see my day-glo white legs! ![]() Kiama __________________ www.kimhuggens.com "Pistis Sophia: the Goddess Tarot" (forthcoming) http://pistissophiatarot.com "Tarot 101: Mastering the Art of Reading the Cards", by Kim Huggens, released by Llewellyn Worldwide, 2010. This sounds like a dream come true! I definitely vote for pub rather than dress-up occaision, even though I hardly drink. I would like to play Tarrocci in a pub, sipping a pint of dark ale! The night walk up the Tor sounds great, (how about doing a pagan ceremony up there?) And I am all for a group dip in the healing pool! *I am freezing just thinking about it!* I hope to see you all there. __________________ If you only look east, you will never see the sun set.
