sorry it took so long for the reveal--been busy. no, not the Hudson River Valley area---the opposite end of the state in fact! 1906 murder on lake still haunting Associated Press HERKIMER, N.Y. - When Chester Gillette killed his pregnant lover Grace Brown on an Adirondack lake in July 1906, it was destined to become an immortal murder. The tragic story became the basis for Theodore Dreiser's 1925 novel, "An American Tragedy," a saga subsequently spun into movies, television programs, plays, songs, true crime books - and a new production at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. "An American Tragedy," with music by Tobias Picker, which premiered Friday. "It's the murder that will never die," said Susan Perkins, executive director of the Historical Society in Herkimer County, where Brown's death occurred and Gillette was eventually tried and sent to the electric chair. "The fascination with it over the years has been unabated." For communities in three upstate New York counties that share the story's history, the opera helps launch the murder's 100th anniversary. A series of summertime events are planned, including a re-enactment of Gillette's trial and a special wreath-laying ceremony on Big Moose Lake on July 11, the day Brown was killed. Brown, known as "Billie," was a farm girl from South Otselic in Chenango County, who worked at the Gillette Skirt Co. in Cortland, about 30 miles south of Syracuse. There, she met Chester Gillette, the nephew of the owner and the son of Salvation Army missionaries. Despite Gillette's upbringing, history portrays him as a shiftless, would-be social climber. After a brief courtship, Brown was pregnant. In a series of emotional letters, Brown implored the reluctant Gillette to marry her. He barely acknowledged her. In July 1906, the pair headed for what was supposed to be a clandestine trip to the Adirondack Mountains - Brown still hoping for a proposal of marriage. After several stops, they ended up at Big Moose Lake, a large, shallow wilderness lake in the central Adirondacks. There, the couple took an afternoon rowboat ride, during which Gillette allegedly struck Brown in the head with a tennis racket, she fell into the lake and drowned. Brown's body was found the next day in the lake along with the overturned rowboat. Gillette was spotted walking away with his luggage and arrested three days later in nearby Inlet, where he had gone to meet two women friends. Soon after, the sheriff found the tennis racket buried under a log. The monthlong trial made headlines across the country. The jury needed just five hours to convict Gillette, who claimed Brown drowned accidentally and that he panicked and fled. In March 1908, he was executed in the electric chair at Auburn State Prison. There were other hauntings as well, but they are not easily found online. also, the gentleman who first started this lodge area had put it together as a mans getaway camp--somewhere to go to hunt and fish. then later it did become a famous get a way place for those with money. I vaguely recall a story about one of the owners refusing to leave the camp-even when he was older and sickly. apparently he died there as well, and his spirit is one of the ghosts thought to be seen there. he was an old fashioned gent and one who didn't take to being told what to do. I'll try to find a new peek for here tomorrow. thanks for participating!

Well, I think I was close when I said Adirondacks region or the fingerlakes. I have to get a map to look. Very interesting CN. The new ones pose an interesting view as I know that although I have not physically been there, I think I've been there. Is this down south perhaps Florida? Maybe Georgia or South Carolina? Looks like an old barracks. I want to say there is someone in that doorway of the first pic. A soldier or guard of some sort, barring the way. And on one of the pics, I get the distinct feeling someone committed suicide by hanging off the balcony of the second floor. __________________ Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors where there were only walls. ~ Joseph Campbell 'As Eckhart Tolle said I lived with many spiritual teachers, all of them were cats...' i will try ! it feels like this place was a place that held some sort of religious practice. i sense many children here , place of teaching /learning /training or something similar. its like large crowd had gathered here before. Some Rituals were done here before. but its also kind of weird that its also a place that some parties/celebration done here , and i don't know why, its so odd that i also pick up prositution ? LOL..strange mixed with religious energy. It could be at different timing . i also got a sense of where some buying /selling activity here , bartering as well. lots of activities males and females and busy area. i will come back and see if i can pick up any more. quick peek!
Hello again all! Only just had a very brief look at the pics but here what I got. Pic 1 gave me a sense of religion but also like it was also used as a hostelry at a later date? Pic 2 , again the religion but not much more. Pic 3, a female, dark haired, white dress, strong sense of sorrow and lonliness and grief. Pic 4, a place of eating? Many people but comparative silence. Army/military involvement at some point? Pic 5, busy-ness, male dominated in general, a hanging in this room? Blessed be! Oh I'm thinking is this place in the uk? Or perhaps France? Luv and light, nyx |

Will give this a go Is this a monastery? It doesn't feel like its USA or Uk to me, feels more like Asia perhaps, somewhere quite humid and i can see Asian men there, mainly young boys. Water seems quite important, not sure why, see big urns of water being carried around and tipped out, used for washing clothes i suspect. This could be religious but i can see rituals of some kind taking place here and i can hear a humming or a repetitive type sound, could be from people meditating there i guess but i also feel that people can sometimes hear this. I can also smell/taste smoke, was there a fire here at some point or could be from rituals again. This place feels very strict and proper, people had to walk around in silence, eat in silence, do everything in silence, i get a sense that some people did not want to be here, they had no choice therefore they were quite depressed and felt trapped. that's alls i'm gettin atm
