I don't know if anyone mentioned this already, but how big are the cards? They don't look to be Druidcraft big, but I have small hands so practically every deck is big to me! Once again, the cards look so...decadent...like chocolate and roses wrapped in silk (or your fabric, flowers, and food of choice). I'm starting to think that if I bought this deck it would fight with my Bohemian Gothic for my attention! I'll have to see how the BoGo reads once I get my second edition. I think I'd enjoy them both. As an aside: is it really out next month? It seems like it's been forever since I preordered it! Okay, back on topic...fourteen spreads? I'm lucky if my tarot/oracle decks give me three spreads to work with! ETA: I just found this review of the deck: http://fillingspaces.wordpress.com/2...melrose-place/ It has some more pictures. This deck is beautiful :0 I hope I'll be able to get it, even if I can't read with it. It's so pretty it's hypnotizing almost~~ I especially like the use of darker colors in the cards. I can't say exactly why, but I guess it is refreshing to see a darker deck use more yellows and reds as opposed to greens and blues. |

There's a count card that resembles Kristen Stewart from the movie Twilight a lot. I'll try to put it up tomorrow .

I get the impression this was rushed out. It has become available much quicker than expected. I wonder if they're trying to beat the Bohemian Gothic to the shelves? Would be funny if Llewellyn thought this was in the same league as the BG. |

I wouldn't think Llewellyn is silly enough to imagine that they could compete with the BG *is anxiously awaiting her BG* ...or are they? I think it looks like a gorgeous deck, but the BG is gorgeous and deliciously creepy and twisted. I found the Death card in the Tarot of Vampyres creepy, but not creepy in the same way that nearly every card in the BG is creepy. |

I really don't like this deck at all I have to say. And not because it scares me (I ought to add). However, Golden Moon's pics make it look stunning. The 8 of Cups by candlelight and a few others really make it look great. It doesn't look quite so good in any of the other images I've seen. I think they most certainly are trying to capitalise on Twilight. In fact, I can't think of anything else to say about it apart from this! |

I expect this in the mail today and hope it does not disappoint. The artwork is lovely, the backs amazing. I don't even compare it to the BG...what can? Nothing. I want it to stand on its own merits. I watched about 20 minutes of Twilight and was bored to death. I have a feeling I will be making up my own story with this...or depending on the book as I believe mine will be the kit. At any rate, I am excited about it. I almost see it as an extension from the Favole world, which I have the books for as well as the deck, so this could be a fun experiment in creative story-telling! |

There really isn't any comparison between this deck and Twilight as in those films (I have not read the books) there is very little blood of any kind to be found. This deck bleeds on nearly every card and the sexuality depicted is a bit more intense (which makes sense as the films have to be appropriate for middle school students). If I were to have to have to compare the deck to current vamp pop culture I'd say it's in the same vein (yes I went there) as True Blood. You have exquisitely gorgeous undead, bestial sexuality, and buckets of blood and gore. But that's still a very surface comparison. The setting reminds me a bit of Dark Shadows. I really love that 3 of Scepters. __________________ "Ah, it is the fault of our science that it wants to explain all; and if it explain not, then it says there is nothing to explain." - Abraham Van Helsing from Dracula by Bram Stoker |
