It's like worrying a tooth, isn't it? I know how you feel. I think it's gorgeous but I don't like some of the images, and I wonder if it would ever be more than just a pretty pack of pictures. I've never had a vampire deck and never thought I wanted one, but I do have a sort of goth streak in me (though I'm old enough to be a grandmother) which has been there most of my life, I think (certainly long before people who gravitated to black clothes and spiders and old horror movies were called "goths").

I'm just not into the blood. But if it weren't for that, I'd probably have the thing on my wish list.

But I've never had this reaction before; most cards I find excrutiating and I can't believe the "OMG once it's in your hands" effect is going to be so extreme as to totally transform that which I have seen on scans. I'm rooting for you...trust thy self.

Stay strong, Le Fanu!

I felt that way about the Vampires of the Eternal Night. Yech. Ick. Then I had a gift certificate at Amazon, and felt that it was free, so what the hell? Big mistake. I hate it. Everything about it.

I think it was you who saved me from the Sweet Twilight (whew, narrow escape.) So, I'm returning the favor. Like Cher, in Moonstruck, I'm giving you a big slap and a "Snap out of it!"

Thus ends the de-enabling. We now return you to your regular stations.

Vampires of the Eternal Night can not even compare to the Vampyres. I have both so I can tell for sure. If I had to keep only one single vampire deck it would be Vampyres(as much as I love Place's deck). The book alone is worth getting this deck for, you'll have to look long and hard for a deck companion this detailed and informative.

Why resist the temptation? Surely it's not the worst deck one can have in a collection? Not the most expensive either. If the box is too big you can throw it away and keep the deck in a bag

LOL. Did I really? Dug that out the other day and packed it away again too. If I didn't have one of the misprinted boxes, I'd have probably sent that one on its way long ago! oops, whatdidIsay? I don't *do*trades...

Something about my reaction to this Vampyre deck makes me think I've hit a tarot breakthrough. And analysing it is fascinating me right now! In the past, I always weakened, always went for it, but still I hold back on this one and the more people try to convince me by telling me what's good about it, the more boxes I have to tick off reasons why I don't want it!

The inner voice says NO, but this thread is excellent as an illustration of the struggle between good and evil, to yield or not to yield.

Le Fanu, come to the dark side....

You're a collector, for goodness sakes. That should be enough reason to purchase it.

ah but a good collector is selective. You don't see any old doodle in the Guggenheim or Frick...

I didn't like it either...at first.

LeFanu,

I didn't give this deck a second thought when I first saw it come on the market. I took one look at the pictures and said, "Oh no, not for me." It seemed too trendy and silly. Then I saw how Tarot Dame worked with it and became fascinated. That's when I decided to buy it, and then another one! Have a look at this :

http://www.tarotdame.blogspot.com/

then tell me if it stikes a chord. Now, understand, I am not trying to enable you in any way, shape or form. You should stick to your guns if you truly are turned off by the deck, but then again, so was I at first.

Go ahead, take a look, you know you want to. Just...peek.

Hahaha! True, and quite fitting, eh? I admire your fortitude.

Of course, I succumbed some time ago. And I'm loving it!!
