It matters not...
[QUOTE=Le Fanu] Something about my reaction to this Vampyre deck makes me think I've hit a tarot breakthrough. And analysing it is fascinating me right now! In the past, I always weakened, always went for it, but still I hold back on this one and the more people try to convince me by telling me what's good about it, the more boxes I have to tick off reasons why I don't want it! ![]() ---------------------- I agree La Fanu, it is easier to resist what you don't really want--it is too modest and easily avoidable for you-great! The true charm of gothic is as a delightful, playful spirit that sparkles as silver in the MR Boho--it's pewter depths entrances and one knows there is no choice, no comparison to anything else, really. The real bite of true bittersweet and the creamy aftertaste makes one shrug at the froth of red cocoa in a vampyre cup.. To me the first Silver and her twisted sister--the Pewter which I have not bought yet--I like the idea of the change such a double deck would yield. If I only needed or wanted a few dark titles, stopping at the MR choices works. However I only have a few MR titles right now and as of yet do not really think I need another for awhile. The cheesy B movie stills I like better for every day right in Ian McDaniels Vampyres is how it vaguely glimmers, just is easy as a faded cliche or a dim moon just before the break of day. Not for everyone, easily resistable, and if those don't care for it-- good to save your money for something more "you". I think it is fun to tease people,--but all I really have to say this choice of buy or not buy Vampyres when there's a classy Boho Gothic just around the corner...well it is easy to understand people might not want Vampyres. Meanwhile I am adding toasted marshmallow and stirring spun sugar to my Vampyre cocoa froth in the guise of white bats and a white silken cloth. Sparkly vampyres, anyone? And where's my mascara... Meanwhile, am having a bit of fun in vampyre alley..... Cerulean She says, innocently.... __________________ Still, cerulean surges... where, as sunset lingers Eve with golden fingers... Hector A. If my choice were between the two, a BoGo I Would Go in an instant. There would be no contest. However, if one can indulge in both, I say: yay! Why not? Bittersweet and cocoa go beautifully together.

My copy of the Tarot of Vampyres came today and I have to say some of the images were more unsettling than I thought they would be. I probably won't read it as much as my BoGo because it really doesn't have the same depth and subtlety but I really do like it. Ian Daniels is a wonderful artist and I'm very tempted to use one of the Ace cards as a design for a tattoo! __________________ "I've dreamt in my life dreams that have stayed with me ever after, and changed my ideas; they've gone through and through me, like wine through water, and altered the colour of my mind." I can feel my resistance crumbling... I have spent far too much recently though, so I think I will try to hold out until October when, if I decide I do want it, I can use it for halloween. |

Ah, yes. I think Pollack is in the Guggenheim. I love the artwork of Jackson Pollack. But would every Tarot enthusiast want a Tarot deck with his illustrations? See photo. I respect everyone's right to hate this deck though. As I said in an earlier post...if it wasn't for Tarot Dame's review and use of this deck, I wouldn't have touched it with a ten footer.
