It matters not...

[QUOTE=Le Fanu]
Something about my reaction to this Vampyre deck makes me think I've hit a tarot breakthrough. And analysing it is fascinating me right now! In the past, I always weakened, always went for it, but still I hold back on this one and the more people try to convince me by telling me what's good about it, the more boxes I have to tick off reasons why I don't want it!
----------------------
I agree La Fanu, it is easier to resist what you don't really want--it is too modest and easily avoidable for you-great!

The true charm of gothic is as a delightful, playful spirit that sparkles as silver in the MR Boho--it's pewter depths entrances and one knows there is no choice, no comparison to anything else, really. The real bite of true bittersweet and the creamy aftertaste makes one shrug at the froth of red cocoa in a vampyre cup..

To me the first Silver and her twisted sister--the Pewter which I have not bought yet--I like the idea of the change such a double deck would yield. If I only needed or wanted a few dark titles, stopping at the MR choices works. However I only have a few MR titles right now and as of yet do not really think I need another for awhile.

The cheesy B movie stills I like better for every day right in Ian McDaniels Vampyres is how it vaguely glimmers, just is easy as a faded cliche or a dim moon just before the break of day. Not for everyone, easily resistable, and if those don't care for it-- good to save your money for something more "you".

I think it is fun to tease people,--but all I really have to say this choice of buy or not buy Vampyres when there's a classy Boho Gothic just around the corner...well it is easy to understand people might not want Vampyres.

Meanwhile I am adding toasted marshmallow and stirring spun sugar to my Vampyre cocoa froth in the guise of white bats and a white silken cloth. Sparkly vampyres, anyone? And where's my mascara...

Meanwhile, am having a bit of fun in vampyre alley.....

Cerulean

She says, innocently....

*clutches chest*

If my choice were between the two, a BoGo I Would Go in an instant. There would be no contest.

However, if one can indulge in both, I say: yay! Why not? Bittersweet and cocoa go beautifully together.

And knowing what we're like here at AT, when on earth would you ever be in a situations of "if you could only have ONE"

Let's be honest none of us ever have (just] one!

My copy of the Tarot of Vampyres came today and I have to say some of the images were more unsettling than I thought they would be. I probably won't read it as much as my BoGo because it really doesn't have the same depth and subtlety but I really do like it. Ian Daniels is a wonderful artist and I'm very tempted to use one of the Ace cards as a design for a tattoo!

*nervous cough*
'Twas well past the midnight hour when the Queen and her favourites slowly passed through the halls of Versailles, doors shutting out the encompassing silence that fell upon the doomed inhabitants. Then, like an ancestral ghost, a woman donned in a deep violet gown, floral brocade stomacher, and shrouded in a wispy veil, flitted across the stone floor and quickly stepped across the threshold of Marie Antoinette's private chamber, The Méridienne. The room already glowed gently with a few candles that had been hastily lit and the Queen beckoned the mysterious lady to the small glass table set in the middle of the room, ensconced in mirrors set with gold gilding and soft blue silk shimmering in every corner. The fortune teller confidently sat down, pulled a tarot deck out of her beaded purse, shuffled and placed three cards on the table. Her rich eastern European accent hinted of jagged mountain ranges and deep forests as she begun to tell the Queen's fate. The ornate cards caught the Queen's attention, illustrated with women in elegant lace gowns, stormy skies, gallant men with agonizing eyes and passionate embraces. For a moment her heart skipped a beat when she realized they were vampires; that dark legend that swept across nations and sent a thrill up ones spine. In an instant she knew she had been won over to this mysteriously illustrated deck. After her reading, she would ask for her own copy..."

And from behind one of the heavy gold painted oak doors a faint whisper was heard: "Aye,The Beautiful Queen Marie Antoinette did get her copy..and look what happened to her then..Did they not see it in these cards, one wonders? Maybe if they had used the "Dark Angels" instead?"

[...silent footsteps of an undecided lurker hurrying to the opposite direction...]

I can feel my resistance crumbling...

I have spent far too much recently though, so I think I will try to hold out until October when, if I decide I do want it, I can use it for halloween.

Ah, yes. I think Pollack is in the Guggenheim. I love the artwork of Jackson Pollack. But would every Tarot enthusiast want a Tarot deck with his illustrations? See photo.

I respect everyone's right to hate this deck though. As I said in an earlier post...if it wasn't for Tarot Dame's review and use of this deck, I wouldn't have touched it with a ten footer.
