I must have that book! And if I unexpectedly learn to like those cards that I dislike now, well, I think this is well worth the price.
Heh heh, welcome to the dark side. And my experience has been that there are fewer cards that I really dislike than I initially thought, if that's any consolation.

Don't forget, vamps are eternal. She could be hundreds of years old (and equally wise) and still have that pouty 12-year-old face.

Oh, that's a very good point! I'll remember that. I don't know too much about vampires, but it will be fun and interesting to learn.

Nay t'was the Queen's Saucy Double

T'was the Queen's saucy and Dark Vampyre Double that fooled them all, stealing the Necklace and scandalizing the names of Caligstro, M.Antonette and keeping the 3 Musketeers so busy in the background...no one who saw her in moonlight would question the strange luster of red glowing against her brilliant half-smile only revealing faint gleams of her teeth--for the real M.A. was too much the Mama Hen, by all reports... The woman who heard the cards was truly an Evil Imposter empowered by the Vampyre powers!

This was written in blood by the Lady in Waiting, the Isis masquerader Princess Lambelle--she found this all out and was beheaded for it. Princess Lambelle did not know her part as Isis in the Freemason's Egytian rite of Count Cagliostro would excite the strange plans of the Undead.

Now Princess Lambelle's tragedy was she awoke with all memory intact, and sadly or gladly for her, her grace seemed even seemed compelling to save for those nefarious plans of the Undead....

I will post cards later.

Oh that sounds rubbish! How laughable is that? A 12-year old worldly wise Queen of Swords. That just about sums up where we're at culturally.

I don't think the Queen of Swords looks too young, but that's probably because she reminds me of Pris from Blade Runner. Particularly the scene where Deckard was trying to find her in a room full of dolls, and she disguised herself by wearing a wedding dress and standing very, very still...

Vampires are known to be youthful.

Ah well, no matter. Fine and well, Le Fanu, but you're missing out!

Does anyone wish to speculate on why that poor creature on the Five Grails looks so forlorn?

Of course vampires can look youthful. What else are they supposed to be, wrinkly and grey?

As for the Queen of Knives she could be anywhere from 15(12 is a bit too young imo) to 35. I'm 28(not a vampire, but the point remains) and I'm still mistaken for being much younger than that. Just the other day the bus driver actually asked me if I was paying adult or kids' fare on the bus. In this country you pay kids' fare if you're under 16

I can easily imagine that this Queen died at a young age, but have lived in her eternal youth for centuries.

At the end of the day I'm saying as OctoberGwen: doesn't matter to me whether people buy it or not. I'm just darn glad I'm not the one missing out

I just noticed Janet Boyer posted a review of this deck on her site, but when I click the link, nothing shows up.

It's here, in case anyone's interested. She always includes scans of some of the cards to go with her review:

Did you read the analysis and symbolism part of the book on that card? It explains it wonderfully and is exactly how so many of us might sit next to a river or pond or stare out into the ocean, thinking on the past, wistfully, reflecting and lamenting what has been lost and cannot be retrieved. No wonder water is the symbol for emotions. We cry tears of joy or sadness, our cups overflow or run empty and even the murmur of a tide going in and out has a forlorn sound.
