No, no. There is a blindfolded vampire with blood running down the lower part of the face. No stabbed eyeballs, don't worry.

You and I Le Fanu share the same phobia. I Can't stand seeing something gross and mutilated eyes. But in a funny way it catches and traps me and does not let go.

I suppose you can think of it as the vampyre weeping blood.

I think this is when the traditional meanings go well with this incredibly awesome book:

"The Vampyre sleeps silently in the tomb as the blood from his last victim flows within him. This new life energy brings tremendous tranquility and stability, causing the old black blood of fear to bleed out from his sight-bringing new clarity and vitality."

And it goes on and on! To me this reminds me of how I feel after being very upset, having a good cry and the release of tension, ready to move on, put things behind me, and go forward. How many times have we cried ourselves to sleep only to wake with a wet face or pillow and yet the harshness of our sorrow is lessened and we are in a state of calm reflection?

I ordered mine two weeks ago today...

I think the parcel has turned into a bat and flown off somewhere.

The problem over here is not the Bookdepository though; it's the fact that parcels from the UK aren't delivered by the formerly national Dutch postal service, but by one of the 'competing' companies - a dude in a big car or a van, who gets about 20 cents per item, so who only goes and delivers some stuff when it suits him.

It's not available locally yet, so all I can do is wait...

Although, now that it's on the TarotChest website as well, it's very tempting to just order another copy there, and hope at least one of them actually gets here!

It's not a deck I'm going to need two copies of though, I don't think.

The book does use masculine pronouns for the figure in the 2 Knives, but I see a woman. Maybe with the right question and surrounding cards the figure will look like a male to me....

I see a woman, too, and that's how I think of the card (despite the book.)

Wow, it weird how many of us see something different in the two of knives. I, for one, always thought it was a man. Never questioned the gender on that one. And...when I look at it again- I still see a man-no question for me. Interesting.

Somewhere on one of these posts someone mentioned that the images on the cards reminded them of certain celebrities. I didn't see it at first, but now that I am scrutinizing the cards I see:

Christina Ricci on Daughter of Skulls

Crispin Glover on Prince of Scepters

Lindsey Lohan on Queen of Scepters

and....Johnny Weir on the Fool...looks like one of his skating poses!

Just a note: I like these cards very much and the fact that they look like certain celebrities to me doesn't make them any less appealing. These are gorgeous cards that everyone should have! Amen.

Funny, my first reaction to seeing that image (and I think I can deal with it ) is that it reminds me of Christ. It reminds me of those Ecce Homo images of Christ tormented.
