The artist has done a great job here of capturing a real sense of hopelessness and despair. This is one of the cards with a twenties/art nouveau feel about it. Has the Great Crash just happened? I jest. She's quite clearly lovelorn.

Lovelorn...great thought. The scene does seem a bit overly dramatic. Thinking about the 'secret' theme, it seems the secret is on clear display. Or maybe the secret is that the anguish on display is not so genuine. Her legs seem to be crossed under her skirt. Quite a comfortable position for someone experiencing the anguish she displays with her upper body. The swords are floating in space...not tangibly integrated with the scene. They are imagined, not real as in other cards like the eight of swords.
