Reading From photo of dead person

kitkat

I paid for a photo reading of an uncle who died at 18 in pit. I want to do this, to read from photos. what deck and what kind of spread would give a reading this way please. I really want to do this as i am dong my family tree and i think it would be interesting

Hi kitkat, welcome to Aeclectic.

I don't think its the Tarot deck that will help you here so much as your own ability to tune in to the photo. You need to practice your own intuitive skills and awareness, and there are exercises to help you do this. Its not a quick-fix though and needs work. Try to be in tune with your surroundings, concentrate on who may be phoning you before you answer the phone, and those type of exercises. You can find many of them on the internet these days. With Tarot, its a case of knowing your deck very very well and doing lots of readings to build up a connection with what the deck is telling you. I don't think any one deck is better than any other, its more a case of which deck you connect and work with regularly.

Thanks

Hi, I know what your saying. I was thinking of say using a deck to say answer questions on the person. example like,

1 was this person a kind man/woman
2 what they loved/hated/feared
3 what they ade of this life
4 work
5 health
6 beliefs/hobbies/talents
7 lessons learn or brought from past life

Something like that if you know what i mean?

Hi kitkat

I think you've almost answered your own question as far as a spread goes.

How about a seven card spread something like this:

1 Tell me about the personality of this person
2 What were their loves/hates and fears
3 (not sure what your point 3 is)
4 What type of work did they do
5 Tell me about their health
6 What were their beliefs or hobbies or talents
7 lessons learnt or brought from past life

As for which Tarot deck, whichever one you feel close to and can get allot of answers from.

How did the paid reading go and what positions did that reading use? Thank you. And welcome!

What an intriguing project...

I am doing ghost story pictures based on my favorite Japanese artists, but never thought about photos of relatives I didn't know. I would usually try to figure out what I remember than read about the time period or read bios or histories similar to the time.

For a three "card" draw:

My suggestion is to look at the photo and pick one element--say a hat or scarf--then write a note.
Card number one is past or starting point and is the key to the past.

Use the deck you are most comfortable with to act as a second point and then draw one card. Card number two is opening the lock.

For me, I would write any parallels or contrasts and a keyword like hat.

Then number three is the keyword discovery--look for something you didn't know. Through google, library searches, talking with a relative, what about the hat, scarf, person of that age or time? If all you have is a name, do a name search or write why was the name chosen or what could this mean? A casual thing like being named ___ can tell one what was popular at the time--a king or queen or singer or actor with the same name at the same time might yield something interesting.

Good luck!

P.S. My husband's family tree yielded many Marys in confirmed names, but only one in a given first name in a generation. They were Irish Catholics.
James was also a popular name, curiously.

Just a thought...

If they were English speaking, Rider Waite or Waite-Smith might be fun or appealing and feel vintage.

Just an idea, matters more what works for you.

By the way, Glass Owl has done a splendid collection of links to explore!
