I do like those Via Tarot backs. Now there's a deck I've been eternally on the fence with. One of these days...

And - yes - Wendy, that Sol Invictus; I came close to getting it once! Something still beckons. I noticed you didn't put it on the Trade Train; now I see why; masochistic postal fees!

I'm really boring; I like the plain, wallpapery ones. The ones I don't notice. I like the Haindl backs, it's just too INTENSE for a back. Backs should be unobtrusive. The Original RWS has very beautiful backs, as Professor X pointed out. The crackled backs of the Pam Bs & Cs & etc are so "period" too. Like wartime kitchen drawer lining.

I want forgettable backs. The Ancient Italian is wonderfully "Victorian parlour" wallpapery

Yet another vote for Waking the Wild Spirit...My husband made a shadow box with one of the extras inside it showing through the glass, he liked these backs so much. (The deck fit conveniently inside, and the card fit perfectly in the glass top...)

Thoth, but it has to be the borderless (or trimmed) variety
Original Alchemical backs (best when trimmed).
I rather like the Cosmic too.
Haindl, oddly I like it, kind of sucks you in.
Noblet backs are great too. I agree with Le Fanu re the Ancient Italian. Anything non-distinct is fine for me. Even the original black Mythic backs.
Ooh, just though of Dame Fortune's Wheel - they are nice too.

The GENDRON. Gorgeous!

Also, Ciro's TAROT OF DREAMS. So mysterious!

I must cast my vote for many already mentioned...

The Hanson Roberts

the Fenestra

Universal Fantasy

and one of my favorites of all time...Tarot of Transition (which I no longer have a scan of, unfortunately)

I like the new Minute backs too...but that's thanks to the genius of Leisa Refalo. Otherwise they didn't have backs at all.

the fenestra tarot has a pretty back, fairly simple and not distracting, and goes perfectly with the art on the front.

legacy of the divine also has a back that is perfect for the mood/atmosphere of the deck art.

I like my vetrate backs as well. little glass balls pattern to go with stained glassy art.

so i guess i like backs on the simple side, absolutely no people, nice colors, and that they MATCH with the art.

mystery back...what deck is it?

Hi all,

If anyone has the book called Tarot from the Predictions Library there is a set of tarot cards on page 45 of the book. The photo only shows the back of the cards and I have no idea what deck it might be. If anyone one knows please fill me in. It may not even be a tarot deck per se. This book is the one written by David V. Barrett. The picture is kinda small to scan.

ETA: Forgot to mention that the backs of these are quite elegant.

Hudes, da Vinci Enigma (you can really play with those backs!), Sacred Circle, Granny Jones, Shakespeare, KissaTarot, ...

ooo ...

KissaTarot backs! they are fabulous. Not a cat to be seen, perfect for a cat-deck. A surreal plant leading up to a full moon. When I first opened my copy, I thought the Moon Card was on top. Gorgeous.
