Loteria Cards
I had a friend go out of town last weekend and she brought me a gift of a Loteria set. They differ from the traditional Loteria cards in that the images are very cute and done in a cartoon style. (I am a bigger fan of the traditional art, but these have a seriously cute rendition of Death.) Lorteria Cards are not an oracle deck or a tarot deck, but could be one. For those who do not know what they are, they are used to play a type of Mexican bingo. I have never played them the way the game was meant to be played, but I own a couple of sets as the images intrigue me. They remind me of a strange mixture of Lenormand, Tarot, and Sybilla decks. Does anyone know where or how the images came into being? Has anyone used them as an oracle? |

Hi Londubh, There are several threads about these cards. I got mine from a little Mexian Food shop in Brighton (UK). Somewhere here there's a list of the little rhymes that go with each card. Try this thread, it has some links; http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=87660&page=1 Bee
