Collaborators? The Metal Tarot?
Guys? So, I was looking at the 80's tarot and pictures of the Rock and Roll tarot, and the boys who make us bang our heads are sadly, sadly misrepresented? I'm going to make some collage deck style photo-chops and see what people think. Then they could add on? Who knows, might be fun. . . (All kinds of metal. Industrial. Hardcore. Grindcore. Black Metal. Death Metal. Goth Metal. Punk. Aggro-rock. Whoo hoo! Although, if anyone submits a Hair Metal card, I'll come to their house and shave their mullet.) __________________ "Every day millions of people suffer from monogomy. OK, you've already listed about 6 more types of 'metal' than I've ever heard of.... guess that leaves me out. Go to it! __________________ You can give a cat a fish, and he'll eat for a day. Card 1 done! Glenn Danzig has been telling people he's the devil for years, and from a tarot standpoint, he is. Alternately sexual, frightening, intensely controlling - he's largely disliked by the band members he hires after they leave. John Christ is case in point. Insanely domineering, delightfully delicious - his voice swings between Jim Morrison and Elvis, demon posessed, and singing about grudgef**ks and luscious succubi and how he's the devil. He's the world's littlest, bite sized sexy control freak. And control's what this card's all about. . . In short, he'd need a library ladder to hit it (being 5'3" at the most and given to wearing lifts in his shoes), but by god I'd let him. Then I'd organize his CDs, let him use me as a coffee table, the list goes on. . .and on. . . http://www.geocities.com/shes_full_o...ets/devil.html __________________ "Every day millions of people suffer from monogomy. I'm late?
Hi! Thats a great idea... Just discovered this thread yesterday and i liked it a lot. Good cards to start. Ok... I have some ideas around for various of the cards. First the easiest. The Emperor: Iron Maiden http://www.ironmaiden.com. No need to explain why i guess... thats the band you think about when you hear the word "heavy metal". They are still mantaining their place and they've gained through the years all what they have. In the pic i choosed to put Bruce Dickinson and Eddie in a throne (like is in the front cover of Edward the Great). Here's the card: Scream for me Aeclectic!! Another one
The High Priestess Sure wecould choose lots of women in the metal scene to make this one, but for wathever reason i think the band Therion fits better here. This is his the official site of the band: http://www.megatherion.com/ His music has something really special and some of the old records are involved in an aura of mistery. Their letters sometimes speak about kabbalah and other sort of esoteric stuff. Last edited by Inana; 05-09-2010 at 18:53. |

The intent is great, the ideas are fun, but - be careful on this one! When you're posting on a public site from a publicity photo that's copyrighted by either the person or the record company, things can get downright strange if you haven't gotten specific permission to use the graphic and noted the permission, the person or group, and who holds the copyright on the graphic below it every time. Some love it, some get really snorked about it, but without that permission it usually is copyright infringement, and record companies are really sensitive on that issue right now. __________________ "I can call spirits from the vasty deep." Death!
there can only be ONE legitimate candidate for the Death card, and that's Stiv Bators! lead singer for the Dead Boys in the late '70's, and the Lords of the New Church in the '80's, he died in 1990 after getting hit by a taxi in Paris (making him highly qualified for the task!). the Dead Boys were one of the hardest and toughest of the first wave of punk (anybody remember 'Sonic Reducer' or 'Son of Sam'?). the Lords are one of my favorite bands to this day. an eclectic (ahhh! there's that word!) cross of political goth/punk/metal, they had Brian James on guitar (from The Damned) and members of Sham69 and the Barricudas on bass and drums. their song 'Open Your Eyes' is as relative today as it was back then (moreso, thank you Mr. Ashcroft!). and Blue, if you have any doubts, then find a copy of 'Dreams and Desires' online and you'll be convinced, i'm sure (but use headphones... or you might get thrown in jail!). __________________ Witchcraft celebrates Pale Hecate's offerings ~ Shakespeare |
