tarot art nouveau- chariot VII

misfitknits

this chariot driver looks like a champion of some sort. wearing gold armor and a red cape flowing behind him, he looks like a roman warrior. he also cradles a tall staff in the crook of one arm, making him rather important.

his chariot seems strange. the front piece is dominated by a large lion's head- implying bravery, strength and superiority. someone who overcame many obstacles to rise to the top (just as a lion fights the other males in his pride to be the dominant male). we see only one brown horse in front of the chariot. is there another cut off from our field of view? or is it a one-horse chariot? and although the horse is wearing a bridle, he doesn't seem to be hooked to the chariot in any way. how does the driver control his vehicle? the charioteer has one hand held up, seemingly pointing his finger in the direction of their destination.

is it possible that by merely pointing his finger in the direction he want to travel, that this man is able to steer the chariot? the horse is not held by reins, nor is the driver holding any. so how is he able to affect the outcome of where the horse will take him?

this is a man who is in control of who he is and where he's going.having gained control over his feelings and emotions, his animal instincts.

LWB: triumph, success, recognized merit.
