I haven't paid much attention, except to look them up if they show their faces in a specific spread. I did buy Understanding the Tarot Court by Greer & Little to have as a reference.

Howdy. Great news Yira. My candle is lit for you. What a wonderful place to have doggie mascots.

Got back from the doctor. Just a simple canker sore. We just weren't able to see it.

Boy is bored. Hoping he can get into one of his games, so that things don't degenerate here.

Tired. Thinking about a nap.

Oh, and I am awful with courts. Some decks, I have come very close to just pulling them altogether.

I had a deck (traded it last train..not sure why even...LOL) that had no courts. It had the majors, and 1-10 of the pips, just no courts...I figured that was a good way to handle those pesky courts! LOL It was the Oracle Tarot.

I don't really have down any of the meanings of any of the cards, sometimes almost feel like I might never get the hang of the cards unless I have the help of a book.

One thing that helped me get the basic meanings, Kaleanna, is typing them down. I used several sources, and took bits of each. Then, I would read it once a day, just as a refresher. Then next week I'd do the next one.

However, I got busy with school and didn't finish this..*sigh* It really worked GREAT on the ones I did though! I need to finish.

Some sources were R. Pollack's Tarot Wisdom, and M. Greer's Understanding the Courts. I also read through Thirteen's tarot meanings and J. Bunning's Learn Tarot.

Thats what I did when figuring out Lenormand. I used the LWB's from each deck that I had and while looking at the cards I jotted down the book meanings, and my own impression of the cards.

So much larger a task with Tarot, and since I do mostly go by what I see, its an exercise that I should do with each deck that I use.

Huge undertaking.

It is but I feel so much more comfortable with the cards I did that with. Then, I can just let intuition go, and throw out those meanings if needed LOL! But, like TCO, I like having a good foundation to work with before I start throwing out

Books are important when you start out, sets a good foundation. History books, alchemy, numbers, art and tarot, all just to read the cards I do not think you can read cards without book learning. But I fall into the non-new-age style reading camp. It is a farce to me, reading without knowledge and letting the "gods" or some external force give you the answers...Just can not see that, but I wait to have it shown to me still.
