Books on Etteilla?

Does anyone know of any good books on Etteilla? I have found bits and pieces in various books on Tarot history but would be interested in books that focus on him. Particularly, I'd like to find more information on his oracles. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Only Paul Huson's Mystical Origins of the Tarot. Only that. Best book for learning Etteilla's meanings. With this in one hand and the LWB for Dame Fortune's Wheel in the other, you can't go wrong.

As for him and his life, I found A Wicked Pack of Cards by Dunnet etc also very useful and thorough. The chapter on Etteilla is excellent and isn't influenced by unnecessary speculations.

I agree with L.F. about Huson's book.
Cerulean knows a lot about Etteilla--I hope she'll see this thread....

Thank you, Le Fanu. Looks like I need to get myself a copy of Huson's book.

There's a book in French on how to read with Etteilla's deck that gives divinatory meanings for upright and reversed cards that are very usable and practical. It's written in short sentences with basic vocabulary so it's easy to read.

I just noticed that the book has two titles. The title on the cover is Le Grand Livre de L'Etteilla Tarots Egyptiens. On the title page it's called Le Grand Livre du Jeu Etteilla.

The author is E. San Emeterio, published by Editions Trajectoire in 1997. I got my copy 3 years ago from La Librarie de L'Inconnu in Paris.

Hi, I'm desperately looking for Etteilla's Major Arcana meanings. Anyone can help me?

James Revak's page comparing the divinatory meanings of Etteilla, Mathers and Waite is the most succinct summary of his meanings.

Revak's source is Papus:

"Papus’ Le Tarot divinatoire: Clef du tirage des cartes et des sorts (Divination by Tarot: Key to reading cards and lots [17th ed.]. St-Jean-de-Braye, France: Dangles. Originally published 1909); however, chapter six reproduced Dictionnaire synonimique which dates from 1791. Quoted excerpts translated from the French by James W. Revak (copyright © 2000 by James W. Revak). The editor included all available appropriate D(ivinatory) M(eaning)s; they comprised part of chapter four (pp. 48-50) and all of chapter six (pp. 112-152).

There is a long thread here on Aeclectic which presents a lot of original material on Etteilla, including translations:
