Need Help Identifying Stone

Glass Owl

I purchased a large egg sized stone at a thrift store about a month ago and I am hoping that someone can tell me what type of stone it is and its properties. It has a light greenish tint to it although there are sections that look whitish.

It looks like Agate to me. Anybody else want to hazard a guess?

Milfoil

Could be orange calcite but with the greenish tinge, does sound more like a yellow agate.

I had one like that, from Mexico, it's onyx I think. Very lovely.

Milfoil

Yes, forgot about Onyx - much more likely.

Glass Owl

When I bought it I was guessing agate but that picture of onyx includes a piece that looks a lot like it. Thanks so much everyone for your help. Does anyone know what onyx is good for?

The Book of Stones (Simmons & Ahsian) says Onyx is related to the Earth element and to the 1st, 3rd and 6th chakras depending on the colors.

Keywords: inner strength, focused attention, willpower, self-mastery, discipline, reason

Melody's Love Is In The Earth reference assigns it to Leo.
