Puzzling duo: 7 of swords crossed by the Tower

In CC spread about a relationship.

I am not too happy to see this. I feel like this says that there are some hard-core secrets or that one of us is not being honest with the other about something. Tower block kind of confirms this...secrets won't be revealed and one or both of us will stay in the dark about something.

Any other possible interpretations or thoughts?

That could be true--to me, the Tower is often a shocking or enlightening revelation that needs to happen. So, in blocking the Seven of Swords, it may be that the seeker needs to understand whatever the stealth of the Seven signifies (perhaps, that he is cheating, lying or stealing--or that he is planning something the other has no idea about)...but the seeker hasn't found this out yet. So, right now, it is his obstacle to overcome.

My feeling would be that whatever is signified by the pair would be of the more negative variety--especially in a relationship spread--unless the rest of the spread is overwhelmingly positive.

Or, perhaps, one person's sitting on the fence or trying to keep their options open will be brought to a sudden and unpleasant end when they will no longer have the power of choice that they have been refusing to exercise.

Thats why i always draw a clarifier for the Majors.
Id say someones being being sneaky or decietful about an inevitable change. They think if they can keep the facade up the change wont come. But words cant keep the Tower from crumbling down. Having the clarifier would show whats being hidden from view.

Coming back to this...

Another thought that comes to mind is that someone is trying to make some plans (7 Swords), but is about to be deterred from whatever those plans are by the sudden realization that they just aren't going to work out because they aren't "doable" for whatever reason(Tower.)

Which is sort of what I said above, now that I reread it. Oh well.

Just the opposite, actually. And more in agreement with Starry. In a CC, the card that blocks is cutting off the energy/movement of the card it blocks--it is not, itself, blocked. So, the 7/Swords says that something must be done covertly, secretly or with stealth. This doesn't mean it's good to do it that way, or that the person doing it will like doing it that way, but sometimes you need to, say, keep someone from hearing bad news at this or that moment, or use some spin in explaining what happened. Or you know a secret that isn't yours to tell.

If the 7/Swords was crossing the Tower, then the message would be that secrets were preventing truth from being known. But you got the opposite. The Tower, which is all about revelations and truth earth-shatteringly revealed, is blocking the keeping of secrets. That's like trying to plan a surprise party and someone says to the birthday guy/girl, "So, I hear your spouse is planning a big birthday bash for you!" Or like a company merger that will only work if no one blabs about it and someone blabs about it and stocks plunge. Or you're looking for a new job and you don't want your evil boss to know and fire you before you find one--but a co-worker tells and now you're in trouble.

Secrets aren't always bad, and taking the long way around to give someone news may sometimes be better than telling them flat out. This combo indicates--at least to me--that whatever sneaky, secretive or just discretionary method you or someone else was planning on using to achieve some end has been blown out of the water. The news got out, and it got out big and blunt. The person you wanted to hide this from has seen the video on YouTube. So much for trying to keep it under wraps and/or let them know gently.
