Sprains..
What stones are good for healing sprains? I re-sprained my ankle a week or so ago, and it still aches. __________________ From the Ashes |

I think I would tend towards using Gems or Crystals very much as a support for the healing process but rely more on a prime herbal remedy - I believe ointments containing Elder leaves are especially good for sprains. __________________ Minderwiz Wer meines Speeres Spittze furchtet durchschreite das Feuer nie! Arnica is great for strains/sprains. It comes in a cream that can be applied. To a bruise it takes the pain right away, even thought the body takes time to actually reabsorb the blood. I've used this cream for years and it works great. Arnica is in pill form also, although I've never used the pills, they are supposed to work great also. As for crystals, you may want to try a lodestones to "pull out" the pain and "magnitize" the healing. Ruby, Thanks for the info - I've made a note of it for future reference. I aso found a couple of remedies in Culpeper's Complete Herbal but they seem fairly complicated - especially the one that involves 16 Swallows! - Hopefully he means Swallow-Wort and does not expect me to venture out with an air-rifle (or send out our cats) to massacre the local bird population LOL __________________ Minderwiz Wer meines Speeres Spittze furchtet durchschreite das Feuer nie! I second the Arnica! Also, homeopathic Bryonia works wonders for the kind of sprain that seems to never go away and gets worse with movement. Amethysts have a gentle healing quality that I find work best at night while you are sleeping. __________________ There is always some madness in love. Sprains
I'm not sure if magnets count under this heading, but I broke nearly every bone in my ankle about four years ago. It still hurts a lot and gets pretty swollen. My husband (a doctor) brought me some ankle wraps with magnets sewn in. They're like magic. Shortly after putting on the wrap, my ankle feels fine. It takes a little longer for the swelling to go down. But I'm usually so grateful that it doesn't hurt anymore that I don't care about the swelling. My husband thinks that the magnets are effective because they increase the blood flow to the affected area. Best wishes |

![]() Comfrey poultice is also fantastic and my Herbal Prep lecturer told us a great story the other day how she had sprained her ankle on the weekend and she put a comfrey poultice on it and 2 hrs later she could walk just fine...WOW!!! ![]() NB: Don't put comfrey on unbroken, dirty skin or infected wounds as the skin will grow over very quickly. Make a paste out of the leaves. I have a sometimes v. painful jaw, which has been sprained and when I place my celestite cluster on it, it gives instant relief. XTAX P.S. Am I too late now for this thread? Last edited by TemperanceAngel; 20-11-2003 at 08:53. |
