No it doesn't. Ask Arthur Dent. ![]() Anyway whatever it is, the Osho doesn't know either. I would tell you which deck KNOWS, but that wouldn't be de-enabling. __________________ ~ ~ I probably shouldn't be here. I am just Janus personified.... ![]() But actually - I genuinely regret buying the Osho Zen. If it's not too late... __________________ ~ ~ I probably shouldn't be here. Osho Zen
I wouldn't touch the Osho Zen with a 99 and a half foot pole. The makers of that deck are the old followers of Bagwhan Shree Rajneesh. If you aren't old enough to remember, he was the guru illegal alien leader of the Sannyasin movement in the 70's and 80's. Basically, it was a sex driven group of disillusioned (and more than a few mentally ill) young kids. Bagwhan - who changed his name to Osho in 1989 to disengage himself from his ugly reputation, came to American in 1981 after getting booted out of India, and mostly because no other country would have him. Somehow, with his ashram of western followers (mostly young females), he managed to buy an entire town in Oregon. The good people of Oregon, as you can imagine, were NOT happy about this. His followers said it was to start a community of love - but I suspect that they really needed a whole town just to have enough space to park all of Bagwhan's many Rolls Royce's. To make a long story short, the cult-commune collapsed in the late 80's because of SERIOUS CRIMES by it's (mostly older male) senior members - one being BIOTERRORISM. (members had also been accused previously of being involved in prostitution and drug running) These same senior members are involved in the production of what we know today as the OSHO ZEN DECK. How do I know all this pointless information about this guru? At the tender age of 17,. I got picked up hitchhiking by a car full of sannyasins that lived together in a big house in Philly. 10 girls under the age of 21 and one slimy old guy in his late 40's, who I found out later was sleeping with all of them. Seemed all the men in the group were slimy and over 40. That should tell you something right there. They were vegetarians, and their house had that indian hippie cool decor. They were allowed to wear nothing but shades of orange and their Bagwhan mala beads which had a picture of Bagwhan as the guru bead. They were big on sex, lots of sex of all kinds, and meditation. All their wordly goods where turned over to the cult when they joined, so they had nothing but their clothing. Since I was at that "searching age", I spent some time with them. The girls fascinated me - but, in the end, it was the idea of sex with the old guys that turned me off.... plus, I never really looked so hot in orange. The sleazy thing about it was how hard the old guy tried to get me to join, he even tried to hypnotize me without my consent. I was underage, for God's sake. But, even though I was young, I was not stupid. I could see right through him. He wanted me BAD in that group - and not for any spiritual reasons, let me tell ya! I look at the Osho Zen deck and to me it is just coated in slime. Now, do you really want to support Osho and have your hard earned money used to continue to further his message? Peace and love my ass. He was all about sex with girls young enough to be his granddaughters, and he hid behind spirituality to get it. Last edited by Bhavana; 02-03-2012 at 23:30. |

Osho Zen
I had it and got rid of it because of this: The suit of Earth (yes, that's EARTH) is represented by (wait for it) Rainbows!!! What has a rainbow which is made from light and water got to do with the element of Earth? How can rainbows relate to the body, the physical, health, money etc? That was enough to put me off. I like a tarot deck to be thought through and having Earth represented by a rainbow is just not thought out well enough for me I'm afraid. If you want a tarot deck get a tarot deck, this is an oracle trying to be a tarot deck. Then there's The Master card ... Shudder ![]() Edited to add: Read Bhavana's post above - there's nothing 'Zen' about the organisation that made this deck or the deck itself either. __________________ 'Be excellent to each other' - Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. The guy running the house in Philadelphia was pushing 50 - but Bagwhan, he was pretty old. Probably in his late 60's or 70's at this time. He died in the 90's, I think. Funny thing, too, several years later, I was bartending in a strip club, and I ran into one of the head girls of that group, she was working as a dancer. Her sannyasin name was "Pushpa" but her real name was Denise. She was so wacked out of it that she barely remembered me. And she had all kinds of problems, was on all this medication for mental issues. Her life was a mess. She wasn't in the group anymore, though....but I felt really sorry for her. Along with all the other things, she had the worst luck. She was the kind of person that would be sitting home and drink two beers, realize she was out of cat food, get in her car to drive a block or two to the convenience store, and get a DWI. Not that that has anything to do with the price of apples, but I am sure her time in that cult did not do her any good - possibly even destroyed her life. PS - Bagwhan also thought that Hitler was a "great man"....just wanted to add that little tidbit. Last edited by Bhavana; 02-03-2012 at 23:43. |

Osho Zen
Apart from how repugnant Osho was, the deck is not one you want. It's awful. Sulis hated the Pentacles suit -- I was freaked out by the Swords suit. According to this deck, you're never meant to use your rational mind. All the Swords are so negative. One of them is even called schizophrenia. One (I think it's the King of Swords) is like a robot frozen in a block of ice. Thinking does that to you, you know. Now I wonder why a cult leader would discourage rational thought. And the companion book espouses a striving for perfection that will leave your self-esteem in shreds, if you're at all delicate about these things. Which who isn't. AVOID the Osho Zen!! AVOID! __________________ One Deck Wonder - Tarot of the Sidhe and Froud Faeries' Oracle - Beltane to Summer Solstice 2013 |
