He literally said "These things happen".

So..are they giving you time to update your id?

Well, it's going to be less than $10/hr, and less than 20 hr/week, but it would be a start, and the place is unionized.

Time, yes, but I'm not sure how much time.

It's all going to depend on whether or not they still give out "temp" cards. If they don't, then I can hope they can give me a letter or something saying that "This card is renewed" that I can show along with my current expired card.

It used to be easy, they gave you a new card on site, or gave you a sticker to put on your card with the new expiry date on it. But now they want to take a new photo every time, and they don't process the cards on site. You have to wait to get your replacement card in the mail.
