I have a conundrum. I like old, used decks and that is why I purchased some of the ones I have from eBay. They were cheap and old and I assumed they'd be USED. But then they get here and either they are still in cellophane, or they are very obviously unused. I bought them with the intention of using them - but when they get here, they are essentially collector items. So, do I use them because that was the intention? Or do I just leave them pristine for what? I can't come up with a reason.... *sigh* And this from somebody who intends to bling a greenie thoth - but that is different.... |

Well, mostly. I know there were a couple of floppy discs that I had to throw out during the move simply because there is no physical way to read floppies anymore. So the only way I can read the stuff that never got uploaded online is to find the original paper versions. Which are in storage at a paid storage locker. Which we won't be able to empty until we finish emptying the storage in our apartment. Which won't happen until we have the money to buy some more bookshelves. __________________ "My Clan is Ghost Cat [...] we do not seek conflict. They are yours. I mean, honestly, who has the $$$ to pay collector prices for decks right now? Probably only those who already have a copy (or more) |

I think you should use them too, for what it's worth...you bought them to use, maybe you just need ones in good enough shape you can use them for a really long time

Chiska, I vote for cracking open that cellophane and reading with them. Shuffle, shuffle, shuffle them until they have that broken-in feeling. I don't have any decks that are collector pristine, nor will I be buying any for that purpose(I'm to poor anyway ), if I want to trim, I trim. If I wanted to bling, I wouldn't hesitate to do that either. I buy my decks to be enjoyed!

It depends on what plants you want to smudge with. Dried sages, sweetgrass, mugwort, many different plants. Some people create blends, use them as smudge sticks, or crumbles/loose on those charcoal discs. __________________ Touch the strand, Sense the need, Offer the power, Feel it breed ~~~~ 2012 PDR - Gaian Tarot |
