Herbal Tarot - Eight of Swords - Black Cohosh

You can see the minor arcane cards in Constellation 8.

Description: A man is sitting bound and blindfolded by a black cohosh plant. There are eight swords, four behind and four in front, by the man.

Significant Details: The swords symbolize strength and protection. The rope and blindfold represent being bound. The black cohosh plant represents pain relief.

Keywords: Feeling trapped, Restriction, Helplessness, Being the victim

Medicinal Uses: “Native Americans used the roots and rhizomes for a variety of ailments, including menstrual cramps and pain associated with labor and delivery. Eclectic physicians in the U.S. during the 1800s used black cohosh to treat uterine difficulties, stimulate menstrual flow, and reduce discomforts during labor. It was one of the main ingredients in Lydia Pinkham’s Vegetable Compound, which was one of the most popular patent remedies for “women’s complaints“ during this period. Black cohosh has been used in Germany since the mid-1950s for treatment of menopausal symptoms.” Side effects: “Black cohosh is contraindicated in pregnancy, and large doses could result in miscarriage.”

My Interpretation: You may be feeling trapped or restricted by a situation. Don’t allow yourself to feel helpless; you have the strength to get through this time. You may need a lot of perseverance to get through this difficult time.

Number Significance: 8 – Movement, Change, Action or Inaction, Accomplishment The 8 of Swords is ruled by Jupiter in Gemini. The Eights are in Constellation 8 with VIII Strength and XVII Star. Self-Confidence. Fate. Perseverance. Power. Force. Kundalini Energy. Hope. Grace. Balance.
