I guess I should have taken it as a compliment, that he found it disturbing enough to act as if I should change it entirely for him (he wasn't my teacher & never had anything to do with this project.) Art should evoke a response.
I agree, yes it should. And you should definitely take his reaction as a compliment.

Teri
Remy Charlip, who illustrated "mother mother i feel sick send for the doctor quick quick quick" was probably very influential.

Silhouette-art is cool.

Interesting tidbit--that book was co-written with Burton Supree. Wrong artist, same name...

Ya-hoo!

Yesterday I made a copyright card/ title card for the deck. It says a bunch of silly stuff. I agonized over which font to use for no more than 4 or 5 hours. Ugh. My advice to others is to own fewer than 600 fonts. That way there is less to chose from. Unfortunately, I collect fonts. Fortunately, they take up less space than tarot deck. I do have the one where, when I type letters, images of the Marseille Tarot appear on the screen. Hey-- can I count this as a deck in my collection?

Anyhow, that fills out my 80 card allotment. I'm SO HAPPY!

I went to the printer's this morning with all my files & I should have a mock-up by maybe the end of next week. They have to see if the thickness of card stock I want will run through the printer & all that jazz. Then I'll have the exact dimensions of the deck so I can make the box. I looked all over on line for places to buy pre-made boxes and I found none that fit well enough, even tho this is a pretty standard sized deck.

The printer has never done anything quite like this before, but as I was standing there waiting I was looking at samples of the stuff they've done & some is really cool. Unfortunately my liaison there is leaving at the end of this week, so they'll be short-handed, but seriously that sort of setback is infinitesimal compared to the time it has taken me so far and the setbacks that I have planned for the future. (Just kidding. I never plan my setbacks).

Enough rambling...

Congrats on getting to the Printers! It's going to be gratifying for you (and us too!) when you get your proofs back!

And yes yes yes about the fonts! We collect them too. I have over 1200(though many are duplicates with different names) and it's beastly when I do ANY project with fonts because of course I have to go through all of them!

I also wanted to say that the Charlip books is one of my favs from childhood as well. it resides in my Weird-Ass Children's Book collection!

When you edit an old post, it doesn't send a notification to people watching the thread, so I'm doing a little bump here with new info Barefoot Fool added to her first post.

Thank you Debra, your post is really helpful, I would've not notice the editing.

Brefoot Fool, should we send you a PM? or should we mention our interest in this thread ?

Thank you Debra.
Oh, either one. Mentioning interest here would, of course, help others notice
If you are shy, you can send me a PM.
I will be keeping track of things in a very organized manner elsewhere.
