How to shuffle Russian Gypsy cards

Hi everyone,

I got this deck a while back. Have played with it a little, but just decided to read into the details on the book today. When I got to the part of "How to Do A Reading" on page 14, I'm sort of stocked. I could understand each word in the paragraph about shuffling, but still can't figure how to do it really.

The paragraph says:
Take the cards in your right hand, face up, and shuffle them into your left hand, toward your heart.

And in the following paragraph it says:
As you are concentrating, shuffle the cards again from right hand to left seven times. Stop after the seventh shuffle and hold the cards in your left hand without moving them about any further.

So I imagined to do it like shuffling poker cards. Use my left hand to take some cards toward my heart, then insert them back to the rest that's still on my right hand and repeat.
But judging by the text, cards should end in my left hand. In that case, the way I thought of doesn't seem to work, since I'll still have all the cards in my right hand at the end...

Can anyone please elaborate on this. Thanks in advance!

Two of my friends own this deck, and both have agreed on the same technique. And it's pretty much the same as yours.

1) Take the entire deck in your right hand and hold it against your chest at "heart level".

2) Use your left hand to take some of the cards and move them either forward or back, whatever feels right.

3) Repeat, counting carefully, and stop when you reach seven times.

4) Take the newly shuffled deck away from your chest, straighten it, and put it on the table.

5) Cut the deck once, toward you.

6) If you are reading for yourself, begin laying out the cards, otherwise, hand them to the reader.

I suppose that since you end your shuffle immediately after the 7th time you re-arrange the cards, you are still touching the cards with both hands. So you could "gather" the cards in your left hand.
