I found free info online about the cards but I always go first with what the picture means to me...like for the snake in your reading, this is the symbolic that comes to mind because that is what we know from nature. Also you have the archetype that we know about snakes same for the dog it always make us think of faithfulness, loyalty, man's best friend after all...But, just to give you an idea and basics to refer to, here is a link:

http://www.lenormand.eu/meaning-leno...trological.php

You will have to click on each card one by one to get the info.

Now, for the meanings when we combine cards, I have not found anything online. But, there is a course that is well recommended all over the Net by many and it is the "Iris Treppner's course". It is very complete and does have the meanings for card combinations, besides bunch of other things.
I got it myself, but I've been so busy these past months that I haven't have a chance to study it yet...Still, I browsed into it when I got it and it looks as good as what people say. It cost about $30 (because it is from Europe so you lose some as the Euro is stronger than the Dollar), it is a PDF file and it is in English (you specify that you want the English version).
Like the others, I think that it is worth it. I printed it all because I don't really like to study such a big course on my laptop. Everything is now in a binder. Here is the link I used and that was given to me by Namrata from our forum. Here is the info she had given me:

"i wrote to iris treppner and she replied that the English version can be bought thru PayPal for 24.90 euros u can send payment to this address info@treppner-kartenlegen.de >>am waiting for my course to arrive "

And then she had given me the table of contents. You can read her post following that link:

http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread...ppner&page=137

Concerning books, I had bought "the secrets of the Lenormand Oracle by Sylvie Steinbach" (it is in English and sold in the US) thinking it might be good even though on that book people are divided some like it others don't...and well, I was disappointed. It has some good points but often time the interpretations are not that great, even more for the card combinations at least in my opinion.

Now for the cartomancy (regular play cards) meanings, here is what I had found online (unfortunately I had not copied the link so I don't know where I got the info...):

Aces are beginnings because they begin each suit.
2s naturally suggest pairings and exchanges.
3s are the number of growth – the third thing produced from the union of two things.
4s remind us of the stable, unchanging, solid square.
5s are the body because we have 5 appendages (two arms, two legs, and head).
6s are a path because the way the pips are arranged in the cards makes them look like paths.
7s are troubles because there is a blockage added to the path of the 6s as you look at the pips of the cards.
8s are ideas and thoughts in the mind because 8 is traditionally the number of the mind.
9s show changes because the number 9 is related to the Moon, which is ever fluctuating.
10s show ends or goals achieved because they end the number sequence before a new cycle starts. A 10 is almost an ever-renewing influence, so whatever its suit, it shows that influence at a pinnacle almost continually.
Kings as power and men is fairly easy to remember on its own, as are Queens as women and truth, and Knaves as messages or a child of either gender.

HEARTS:
Ace - Some letter or offer of love.
Two - Someone has good heart; if followed by three, talk on marriage.
Three- Marriage card.
Four - A journey with loved one.
Five - Happiness in marriage.
Six - Invitation to wedding, engagement party or dance.
Seven - Surprise or kiss.
Eight - Present from someone. If no crown card opposite the individual may not marry at all.
Nine - Someone of a restless nature, but great pal.
Ten- Success, if marriage card in row, great happiness in marriage is expected.
Jack - A person of a very selfish nature inclined to flirt.
King and Queen represent person of this coloring.

DIAMONDS:
Ace - Wedding.
Two - Business transaction, probably in large building or lawsuit.
Three - Small offer of money
Four - Change of home, or job. See surrounding cards.
Five - Someone will visit your home.
Six - Letter from a distance, probably from across water.
Seven - Someone spreading scandal.
Eight - Disappointment over love or money See surrounding cards.
Nine - Family quarrels or with loved ones.
Ten - Sum of money unexpectedly
Jack - Ginger man. Good sport, but beware!
King and Queen represent person of same coloring.

CLUBS:
Ace -Letter.
Two Quarrel perhaps over talk. See other cards.
Three - News of birth, a surprise.
Four - House of someone where there’s trouble.
Five - Present, if following Ace of Diamonds. Double rings.
Six - Accident or injury
Seven - Train journey
Eight - New home if beside crown card. Someone who drinks.
Nine - Trees or woods.
Ten - Double disappointments in someone.
Jack - Sincere young man, but inclined to drink.
King and Queen represent person of same colorings.

SPADES:
Ace - Bad news.
Two - Sick bed.
Three- Picture house or dance hall if followed by diamonds.
Four - Own home.
Five - Trouble.
Six - Water, or news from across water.
Seven - Someone worrying.
Eight - Losses or bad news.
Nine - Crowd of people or gathering.
Ten - Big building which you will probably enter.
Jack - A man of the law
King and Queen represent person of same colorings.

Anyway that is all the info I've got, I hope it will help you get something that will be suitable

LadyZelda thank you so much for taking the time to post all that info for me, it is going to help so much, (I was very nearly heading over to the trading section to sell all of my lenormand decks ) I feel quite positive now, I am going to copy all that info into a journal for future reference and I am going to check out the course you refered to. You're welcome Janie, I'm glad I was of help And if you are interested I have started a thread proposing to start a "School for beginners" to really get the most of the oracle. Because for me "the daily practices" are just that "practices" and "practice" should come after learning through lessons....
If you want to read about what I proposed here is the link:

Have a great week!

Rider mountain dog

I guess this is either bad news from or for a friend or a delay in getting a message

If i see the rider as someone coming towards someone else this is blocked too

a man who lives at a physical distance from you, or is travelling, is single is going to make a decision or you are making a decision about him.

a friend is in trouble, or a friend from another country visits or sends a message.

I do not know yet what this is about..The cards from this weekend and these, gives me the feeling, that something majow will happen. I have a feeling that "something hanging in the air" that suppose to get out but gets stuck. If it will happen this weekend, remains to be seen, but i do feel 'soon'. I have no specific intentions of making major decisions
