My answer to sleeplessness - MP3 player with looooong battery life, very good/comfy earbuds and the "Play All Tunes" and "Shuffle" facilities..... then I just lie there quietly in the dark, in my sleeping position, and listen and drift ... not as good as sleep but pretty darn close to it
