I tend to keep really young kittens secure in smaller areas anyway, because they're still too young and get lost trying to find the cat box But I might consider trying to keep her in a room *with you/DD* while someone's home, allowing Naughty Kitty to come and go as she wishes...then close her up in a room with catbox when no one is home to make sure she can find the cat box/separate Naughty Kitty if she gets too aggressive... in a couple weeks IttyBitty will be advanced enough to find the cat box and you'll know the two aren't going to maim each other

That makes sense, and I am worried that she'll get into all sorts of odd spots that a bigger cat couldn't. The thing is, this floor plan is "open". Everything is open except bedrooms and bathrooms, if ya see what I mean. We can maybe block off the living room somehow, but her cat box is in DD's room and will likely stay there. Should I bring that into the living room if we decide to try that?

Where's Naughty Kitty's cat box? How old is IttyBitty? You might have to do it the way it's being done now, if there's no option for her to use the other cat box while she's out and about... It's just really difficult for a really young kitten to remember where the cat box is, if the area is too big.

Naughty Kitty's box is in the...uh..er....I dunno what it's called. It's the bathroom that's part of my bedroom, the part with the sinks, where DD and her styling/makeup aids have taken over...LOL. That whole area can be closed off as "MY" room.

Hehe, that makes it kinda hard Are you willing to put temporary cat boxes in, just til you see her getting around like an active young cat rather than a newly weaned kitten that still stumbles when it walks? If so I'd recommend that..maybe even just cardboard boxes lined with a trash bag and some litter put in..(ya know flat boxes. lol) Then when you have no worries left about her finding her box or being beat up, move them a foot closer to her own box every day til they're touching and take away the cardboard one/s...

Yeah, I was just doing a walk-around thinking the same.

In two weeks it'll be like she's a completely new cat...fast, agile, and a HANDFUL...

Hopefully she won't be as spastic as Jasmine was at that age. Her nickname was Spasmine... I have permanent scars on my left thigh where she freaked out while in my lap --- because the toaster popped up the toast...

hello, not caught up apart from this page. lots of ittybittykitty talk
(((((Chiska))))) i had a couple of cat free years between my four cats. every cat is so different, you can never replace them, but eventually you want to get another one, and they are are a perfectly wonderful snuggly purry thing . Bilbo sounds like such a wonderful cat, and reminds me of my first cat, a tortoiseshell, who i grew up with, and i still miss her, thirty years later.
