have you tried using colored pencil, or watercolor pencil or watercolor crayon for the background??? Color, then swipe a wet brush over it - so simple!

The 56 remaining cards would take a whole lot of brainstorming. I like the watercolor idea. Was thinking about watercoloring the backgrounds and just doing a light wash. Watercolor is a tricky medium though; it's so easy to mess up. Also thanks for the feedback
