Bibliomancy Exchange ~ Liralen & le_charior & Cat*

Hi Liralen and le_charior,

Nice to be partnered with you two!

Since we had an odd number of participants, I made a group of three to read round robin style. My oracle says to do it like this:

le_charior reads for Liralen
Liralen reads for Cat
Cat reads for le_charior

Here's our "spread" and schedule:

1. Something to think about
2. Something to do
3. Something to love (or embrace)

Pick a quote by the method of your choice for each of these "spread" positions and interpret it for your partner. (Some suggested methods are listed here.)

Readings due: 13 April
Feedback due: 15 April

Looking forward to doing this exchange with you!

Liralen,
I'm open to any kind of book you feel like using.
I'd be grateful if you would do the reading with a focus on my relationship.

le_charior,
Do you have any no-gos in terms of the book(s) I might pick?
Any focus area for the reading? Or would you prefer a general one? Either is fine with me.

Hello Cat*, hello Liralen!

My first bibliomancy exchange and my first round robin! Looking forward to it!

Cat* - I am open for everything in terms of books, and I have no real focus, so a general is perfect for me!

Liralen - I'll just steal Cat*'s questions:
Do you have any no-gos in terms of the book(s) I might pick?
Any focus area for the reading? Or would you prefer a general one? Either is fine with me!

I'll try to do the reading tomorrow!

Have a good day!

Hi Cat* and le_charior,

Looking forward to exchanging readings with you .

Hey, looks like we're all located in Germany, that's interesting!

Cat*, I was going to use three different books for your reading, hope that's okay.

Le_charior, you can use any book you like, I don't have any no-gos. As for the reading, could you focus on how to develop my psychic abilities, please?

I didn't even notice that until now! So le_charior can use German books after all?!

Sure, why not - but what I would REALLY like is a reading from that roadkill cookbook of yours - no matter in what language !

I would like to have something COOKED from that roadkill cook book!

I was at my parents' place today and took some good books from there that I had forgotten I kept there, so I will do it with an english language one, I think!

Sorry to disappoint, but it wasn't my book. I was just the one who got the reading from it. Sorry if I didn't make that clear enough!

Reading For Liralen

Ok, here comes my reading!

I used the book "The Runaway Soul" by Harold Brodkey. It is one of the few english language books I have that I actually have not read, and i felt it was good to be free of memories of the plot or story or characters of a book to do the reading. And it is an old, bound, rather battered copy that I bought second hand, which felt appropriate. It does look a bit like a magic book, actually.

To get the quotes I used five pair of colored mini dice. green, red and blue to get the page number. I throw the dice and form pairs by color, from the left to the right (the first dice in the color is the one that counts.) The sums are the first, second and third digits of the page number. Two of a kind (Pasch) counts as 0, as does 10. 11 and 12 count as 1 and 2. Then I throw the black and white dice to get the sentence on the page (here I just add the dice, no extra rules). From the lower to the higher number. In the attached picture this gives Page 397, from sentence 9 to 10. Hope I made this clear... ask if you have questions about the process, please!

How can Liralen develop her or his psychic abilities?

1. Something to think about
Quote:
I tried to pay no attention to the truth. "She refuses to feed you," Lila said in exasperation.
Out of context the She of the second part relates to the truth of the first part. I think you can take this advice really very literally: Try not to pay attention to what everybody thinks is the truth, because it won't nourrish your psychic abilities. It is only the truth in italics, maybe everybody's truth but not yours. I don't think it refers so much to a truth that denies psychic abilities here, the rational world view, but more precisely I think you should not accept what other people or books might tell you about how to develop this side of yourself. I have no experience with this field whatsoever, but I imagine that there is a kind of "psychic dogma", how to do these things, which rituals to follow etc.... and you should not pay to much attention to this, but find something that feeds your abilites in your own way.

2. Something to do
Quote:
I know very little of the family history... Of any of the family histories, on either side, Lila's, S.L.'s, my real mother's, my real father's. But I made notes of what was said: it was interesting, the trends and fashions of snobbery. Anyway, it is possible that the men of the Silenowicz line, S.L. and his father and brothers, were Frankists, Christianized Jews of a sect that believe in promiscuity and in keeping none of the Jewish laws except in a perverse form: this was in hope of forcing the coming of the Messiah.
Talk about being unconventional! If we do everything totally wrong and whore around as much as possible, then the Messiah just will have to hurry! I love the thinking behind it
So - find a detour to develop your abilities. Think outside the general "esoteric" box. Do things that might even be considered inappropriate. "The trends and fashions of snobbery"... Take notes of them, of what is fashionable in the "psychic field" or scene (if such a thing exists...) right now, but don't let the snobs who think they know how you should do things tell you the way.

3. Something to love (or embrace)
Quote:
Her voice had liquid in it, not tears - something tearful maybe. I wriggled a bit, reached over and touched her cheek with my lower lip...
"No! Do nothing!"
"You want to come?", I asked. I knew next to nothing about this part of things but I'd read in books about men not doing this being no good, unlikable, and so on.
"No."
How appropriate that the part about what to love is actually a love scene!
Embrace the idea that you know nothing. What you read in books won't help you much, and again, the conventions and general rules are not for you to follow. Let yourself go, with the flow (liquid, but not tears), there is no room for strict ideologies. Do nothing. Maybe this is a key for you - do nothing, in the sense of meditation, Zen, etc... letting your mind come to a halt, empty your head, be an empty recipient more than actively searching and working.

***
I hope this made any sense to you. I think the three quotes had a certain coherence. I must admit that, since I have no experience whatsoever with psychic abilities, I am not sure if my very cliché idea of it didn't hinder the reading a little... please be super honest and open on your feedback, I can take it and I want to learn!

Thanks that i could read for you, I enjoyed it!
